I hope your sources are right this time and it's not a repeat of Doug Meechum for OC, Bud Foster for DC, or Sumlin being fired in '15 and '16.

Basically the most impressive thing Traylor has done was almost beat BYU in the COVID year.

In my defense, Meechum actually was nearly a done deal before it fell apart (confirmed by guys like Liucci and tarp in the years since) and Sumlin being retained after 2016 was where the most recent Dallas/Houston donor split meme comes from. It was two competing factions trying to get their way.

As far as Traylor goes, IDGAF if he bad mouthed us on the recruiting trail while at Texas. He’s had the same (very good) QB his entire tenure at UTSA, and he doesn’t have a single marquee win where they punched above their weight the way even a Herman or Sumlin did at UH. When he was a P5 assistant every staff he was on got their fricking skulls kicked in on the field and on the recruiting trail. I don’t think it will be him but woof it is.

I don’t know much about Traylor but from the way it sounds I think I’d rather promote ERob, I’d have no issue taking my licks with him early on and letting him grow. Seems like that’s what we’d be doing with Traylor anyways

I'm just busting your balls man. I really hope you're right though b/c even as somebody who was against Jimbo from the jump I don't see how it makes sense to fire him w/two games left in the year only to hire Traylor. He's not even the most accomplished G5 coach let alone somebody who should be locked down less than a week after firing Jimbo. For a guy like him they should at minimum let Jimbo finish the season to see if he can take down LSU as well as see if UTSA can actually make the AAC title game.

If the options are Traylor or Freeman then Freeman is definitely preferred. He’s fought tougher battles at ND and has a rather lengthy track record as a very good DC.

still don’t see Traylor getting it but it’s concerning BL keeps bringing him up

Comparing to our search he seems like y’all’s Mel Tucker or Napier that just wouldn’t go away and had factions seriously pushing them. Only like Stewart Mandel or someone had suggested we even go after BK

There’s a report we interviewed at least 2 assistants. I’m guessing Schumann wasn’t one based on reports earlier so wonder who they were. Hartline and Ryan Grubb? Sherrone Moore?

I’ve seen so many random names on Twitter the last few days. I honestly feel like no one really knows what’s going on which I kind of like.

Hartline is one that Liucci hasn't shot down quite yet. I like the idea of going after an assistant and building with somebody invested. Rumor is that the two assistants mentioned were Hartline and Moore from the B1G

Hartline/Robinson would also be a really great combination

Moore?
I’m not against Hartline at all. Young, hungry assistant looking to be a HC. May be what we need after going for an “established guy”

I don’t think I’d touch a current Michigan coach anytime soon seeing as we have no idea how deep their cheating scandal is going to run or how much of their success was due to the sign stealing vs actual coaching talent.

I think my top 4 are these guys.

DeBoer UW Head Coach
Smith OrSt Head Coach
Hartline OhSt OC
Moore UM OC

Would be happy with
Elko
Schuman
And Liepold (sp?)

Would be disappointed with
Traylor
Chaggy
Lane

I'm a big fan of the following. I don't think many of them will even get an interview because the boosters are in charge of the entire process

Elijah Robinson
Jedd Fisch
Jon Sumrall
Brian Hartline
Marcus Freeman
Kalen DeBoer
Glen Schumann
