Sumlin made promises to get Murray here he had no intention of keeping.

How can you possibly know that? We see it repeated all the time, but nobody truly in a position to know has said squat.

And to answer your question, a lot of Aggies are siding 100% with Sumlin because we as a group are denialist and loyal to a fault. As long as he is our coach, many just can't turn on him.

Or maybe they're idealistic and irrelevant.

Karma is a bitch

But we are unfairly throwing Sumlin under the bus for a legacy premadonna that would have created this situation for any coach not just Sumlin

Because good coaches manage the situation and don't have both qbs transfer. There are plenty of prima donna 5 stars every year, good coaches control them and keep their talents on the team.

These are facts and I am sure they will be deleted quickly and I may be banned, do not care.

Kevin Murray had to be kicked out of the Aggie QB room by Tom Rossely several years ago, he thought since he worked with a certain Aggie QB that he could enter that sanctuary. Confirm it with Sherman. That certain Aggie QB had a disappointing senior year.

Kevin Murray always felt he should have been treated like Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams are at Texas. Ask multiple donors, he expressed this.

Kevin Murray tried to convince Charlie Strong to hire him as a QB coach and he would deliver #1 and other recruits. Charlie said no Kevin said then let me run my QB school and camps on your campus facilities, Charlie said no.

Kevin Murray barged into the closed 7 on 7 workouts this summer in the indoor facility and demanded to know why certain receivers were on the field with his son. He had to be asked to be removed. Ags, if he would have stayed there would have been drama until he left.

We all should have taken our maroon binders off after his last minute trip to Austin last January that we could be left at the alter at anytime. We married the Murrays anyway, and now they have disappeared. Turns out they weren't so pretty after all and the cost of the divorce was way cheaper after only one semester. Jake will make a great Aggie story.. PEACE 244

No. Sumlin should have never played both Allen and Murray during the same games, especially during the Arizona State game. If you name your QB then stick with him. I would have been fine with Murray redshirting. If Murray transfered because he didn't like it then that would have been on Murray (Promise or not) and not Sumlin. But Sumlin played both of them and this is where we are at.

Because somebody's feelings might get hurt? I don't get this at all. If that was really a problem for either of them to the point they'd transfer then A&M is definitely better off w/o them.

I think Sumlin badly handled explaining (or lying about, take your pick) Kyle's injury. And telling everyone the competition was open before the bowl was stupid. But I don't blame him for playing both.

here are truths as I see them

1. The Murray family played a game of brinksmanship during the final days of recruiting and never LOVED A&M.
2. Sumlin had a terrible year managing the QB situation. Be it from promises to Murray, distrust in the athlete on the field, or injury, the always saw the grass was greener on the other side of the fence which led to distrust.
3. No one anywhere can ever convince me that the Ole Miss game was a complete clusterfrick coaching wise. You don't leave a QB out there to go 1 and 23 for -1 yards. I swear Allen wasn't right in some way and Hoobs should have been used much, much quicker. That is all on the coaching staff.

Maybe it's because I have other far more important priorities, but I feel almost aloof to the situation and don't care much. I will continue to watch Aggie Football, and I will likely gain more enjoyment than misery.

Well, yeah, the staff mismanaged the QB situation this year. I think they wanted someone to show some consistency at the position and separate himself. Both failed to do this.

That's why they kept trying both. They wanted to win games. But neither ever conclusively nailed down the job.

there is no question Sumlin mishandled this. But our meddling boosters have made this the clusterfrick it is.

We've got too many Jerry Jones wannabes running around and unfortunately, while they have best interests at heart, they are fricking idiots.

Sam, there are influential people who want him fired now. If he isn't, then he has to win BIG next year to keep his job. 9-3 with losses to Bana, LSU and Tennessee won't do it. The standards will be ridiculously high not matter who plays QB, because they are looking for any reason to fire him

They are forcing him to replace Spav.

the only thing, despite RK's comments, that has ever been forced on Sumlin to my knowledge is Kyler. Not allowed to pass and take the preferred QB (the kid that went to Baylor). Legacy. Friends with big alums, yada yada

That's not why this is a clusterfrick.

If he has to be FORCED to replace Mark Sny_er and Jake Spavitard, then he has no business being a head coach.

Hindsight 20/20 I guess. If Sumlin didn't want Kyler I have newfound hope for him.

And yes, Kevin Murray is an arse. He has been sore towards A&M ever since we threw him under the bus when Jackie was busted in '88. All the stuff about him busting into meetings is true.

No it's not, it's just sad he has to be forced to replace Spav and Snyder.
