That is exactly right. Our defensive recruiting has never gotten back to What it was pre Mack Brown.

I have no reason to think that Elko is not a competent defensive coach. He has climbed pretty high in the profession at the age of 40. As near as I can tell Wake Forest and ND seem to think he did good work while there.
The quotes from around the nation about Elko have been unanimously and overwhelmingly positive, which is pretty notable for a guy that's a relative no name. Seems like everyone that has met him has been blown away.

Elko could turn out to be a home run. I like it. I think we paid him too much, but that's what happens when the homeless man gets to look inside your wallet before asking for money (Aranda offer).

Elko was my number one choice. Doesn't need elite talent to succeed, which is exactly what we need.

I think you're a very worthwhile substitute. Carry on.

It's a very hard and demanding job. It sucks the soul out of you

On an unrelated and funnier note....Karma (source Twitter)

I think ND fans just don't get it. I cannot count the number of purple-faced Brian Kelly pics I've seen over the past few years. He can't be fun to work with. And WE have a guy named Jimbo who hunts and fishes and wears jeans to work. No brainer.

Everything I'm reading about Elko is making this hire look very good. Let's hope Jimbo and Co can change the culture of the program over the next couple of years and A&M can live up to it's potential

What a scoop by Looch. Once again he shows everyone why he's the best in the biz.
