I knew from the ND game we were going to have serious problems on offense. But overall Elko did pretty good. Now it’s just time to see him capitalize on the off-season and build momentum.

We beat LSU. We didn’t really get out coached ever. Elko’s transfers show what a good talent evaluator he is they were all pretty good. Defense was decent given some the holes we had. Elko had the balls to move to Marcel as the starter. We had good and fairly balanced play calling. Overall I think this team could have won two more games if Moss and Owen’s weren’t injured. We will get there. I give Elko a B on the season. Now I just want to see how he does in the off-season. Ideally we are going to need a few transfers again. We need depth on both lines. And Elko was pretty elite at making adjustments in games. That really impressed me how flexible his gameplan seemed to be. He takes what they give him.

Not really bothered by the loss to Texas. We were going to get boat raced in the playoffs at some point if we made it. And I don’t think we can beat UGA. So either way we were going to end up right here.

Offense was terrible all year. Klein is pretty good though. We really need some better blocking.

the offense will come, but i dont know what happened to the defense. ive got to believe elko is more pissed at that unit than the fans.

Billy…that you?!?!

Just messin, but that’s a pretty glass half full take right there. I think most of us had an 8-4 type season before it began, and that’s where we ended up. I don’t think it was a terrible season, but I also don’t expect it to get much better than what we saw. I don’t see Elko recruiting at the level he’d need to really step forward. Maybe his transfer portal identification can bridge that gap, but I doubt it. I’m also not as high on Klein as you seem to be.

Ultimately, I just think we are what we are, and what we’ve always been…an above average program.

We got out coached every game we lost except arguably tu. You don’t think we have more talent than SC, Auburn, and ND?!

And we could have beat tu. Had we had 6 points from those two passed up fg chances the team and the 12th man woulda been hyped up for something special. Not to mention bad tackling is a lack of good coaching, and bad tackling cost us at least 100 yards on the ground.

I don’t know how you can actually believe what you said.

We overperformed the entire season until Leveon Moss went down. From there we just couldn’t putter enough offense with our line and predictable qb limitations.

Defense held Texas to 17 pts. About as good as we can ask overall.

We don’t have more talent than them. We have comparable talent.

And we did not get out coached. We did get out played.

I got flamed for saying this was going to be a rough season after the ND game. Then yall drank too much of your own jizz and got your hopes up. And now, just to be clear, I am getting flamed for taking this as an overall position be trend for the program.

Y’all really are on one after losing to Texas. Calm the frick down so I don’t have to keep saying I told you so

We got outcoached by Texas because of that 4th and goal call.

Elko and Bateman need to coach our defense how to tackle before you walk around here talking about them not getting outcoached

Agreed that anybody paying close attention knew our offense was a liability this season. Just as easily as we put up 40+ on Mizzou, we put up 13 against an overrated ND that was struggling at the beginning of the season.

Disagree about being out coached. After teams saw we were switching to Marcel, we had no counter to them focusing on stopping the run/zone read and forcing him into being more of a passer.

I’m not as bothered by the loss to the longhorns as I am bothered by the 1-3 record in November (0-3 in conference) when we had firm control over our own destiny up to that point.

A&M has never been able to handle success in recent years, we are much better at being the underdog and surprise teams (see bama game 2021, LSU 2022, etc.). It’s different when you’re ranked in the top 15 and getting the best game from your opponents week in and week out because they all want to knock off a ranked team. I want to see that change.

I don’t think I’m a fan of Klein’s play calling. We get too predictable at times and he didn’t switch anything up when our feature running back and starting left guard both went down. And it showed, big time.

Not to mention running up the gut on 4th and 1 when that had failed a hundred million times throughout the game. Call a bootleg with Reed!

These two statements are incompatible. If your team got outplayed, by definition they were better prepared, also known as corched.

You literally said it yourself, baw.

I feel like Bateman coming over from Florida was the Gators cutting bait. He is a liability. As is perhaps Sean "chaos" Spencer who as far as I can tell never was able to even control some of the guys and get them to play disciplined (not going to name names but you saw the games...everything from late hits, to not even lining up properly at the most inopportune times).

The number of undisciplined and selfish plays, especially on the D, was horrible to watch-- and it kept repeating.

That's not only not a good sign of coaching, it's perhaps a red flag as far as bad coaching. All the whiffs on tackling only add to a negative baseline.

OTOH, the OL was a bit of a happy surprise; not the relentless false starts; even replacement guys playing with heart and disciplined, and not getting totally blown out in most games except for the last game...which honestly came as a surprise to see tu have such a wrecking DL.

No...I can take a high school team and coach it better than a 4-year-old would coach the Chiefs, but the Chiefs would outplay my high school team 100/100 times.

This is a dumb analogy. The two teams are incomparable in talent, and the chiefs have been coached by one of the greatest coaches of all time until just now when your four year old takes over. But, if they ran nothing but the plays the four year old drew up, and he was responsible for play calling, offensive and defensive schemes, etc. then the chiefs would absolutely lose.
