Only one person has mentioned Pelini to me. And he was low on the list.

Gridiron now: aranda

quote:

Sources say A&M offered Aranda a deal valued “around” $2 million per year. Aranda currently is the highest-paid coordinator in the country, earning $1.8 million this season at LSU. His salary is set to increase to $1.85 million in 2018 and $1.9 million in 2019.

quote:

Should Aranda leave LSU for a non-head coaching position within 500 miles of Baton Rouge, he would owe the university 40 percent of his remaining salary. It was thought this provision was put into place to deter Aranda from joining his college roommate, Tom Herman, at Texas.

I wouldn't count him out yet but it's probably someone else who finished up their bowl game yesterday.

If we don't get one of these top tier targets, I really wish they'd take a run at Geoff Collins, HC at Temple and former DC at FU and MSST. I know it's a step down but if we are offering close to $2m/yr, that's a $1M more than he's making now. He might not listen, but I'd make him say no.

I actually prefer Brown to Aranda. Aranda is going to get a head job soon. You can live with coordinators leaving if your HC controls that side of the ball anyway (Jimbo offense, Saban defense) but on the other side its debilitating to have turnover at those spots. Plus it sounds like he will fill out the staff with excellent recruiters and we desperately need that on this staff. Depth of talent is our biggest issue.

dont know much about brown, is he known as a good recruiter?

and does aranda have a rep as a good recruiter. Jimbo has been putting a pretty heavy emphasis on recruiting

Brown and Aranda are both good recruiters. Brown's potential assistants however are top 5 nationally which is why I think it's him. Jimbo about to process this state.
