Hop is really confident in a Jimbo-type hire. Let's hope he's right.
My Grouping of Top Coaches:
Tier 1
O'Sullivan - UF
Corbin - VU
McDonald - UL
Van Horn - Arky
Schlossnagle - TCU
Tadlock - TTU
Casey - OSU (retired)
Mainieri - Lsu (might be available)
Savage - UCLA
Tier 2 (might be top coaches but need to prove it longer)
David Pierce - tu
Lemonis - MSU
Vitello - UT
Bianco - OM (Childress clone)
Bakich - UM (maybe Tier 3)
O'Connor - UVA (maybe tier 1, but the last couple of years have been BAD)
Stricklin - UGA
DiMare - Miami
Lee - Clemson
For me, a Jimbo type hire is Tier 1. But there are of a lot of interesting names on tier 2 as well that would be home-run hires. I still think the most likely scenario is a top assistant or top guy from a lower level.

Vitelli makes 650K we could easily double his salary if want to
Schloss will take close to 2M to be honest
Tadlock can probably be had for 1.5M

Any of the establish guys are already both of 1 M. Tony is a relate newcomer.

I expect us to break the glass ceiling on this one. At least 1.5M for an extended period of years. There is a backlog for season tickets for baseball so the demand is absolutely there. I would honestly say that baseball is more popular at A&M than basketball

First thing the new coach should get is a upgrade to Olsen. Looking at Arkansas, Miss St, Wake, U of SC, etc. we need to keep up and then some. I hope the donors step up like they did with football.

Agreed about an upgrade to Olsen. But it is the facilities behind the scenes that matter more. We have donors wiling to pony up for baseball.

Looks like Schlossnagle's salary is wrong too.

People making the calls are going to get a whole bunch of "We just did an upgrade" as a response to asking for more money.

We will see. I expect us to end up with a promising coach, but not one of the best. I would love to be proven wrong
