Took a class of 59' from New Orleans to a game as my guest 3 years ago. Great guy, he had not been to Aggieland, or even on campus or a game since the 60's.

we were both in the Corps of Cadets and I had just gotten my boots that year so we went and got pictures taken. it does look kind of funny from an outside perspective I guess haah

That's literally the only time I've ever worn shorts with those boots Not like I wear shorts with senior boots all the time.
That pic was from a set of engagement photos. Aggiebelle11 had recently gotten her boots, but since cadets rent our uniforms, I didn't have the pants that went with my boots anymore (I was a year ahead of her in school). We still wanted some non-uniform pics of both of us in boots, so I went with the cargos as a one off.
And the pics turned out great

Has nothing to do with wealth.
Just makes more business sense.
Cadets quit the corps all the time, and there's really no practical use for them outside of the ROTC setting at A&M. Better to rent them out and reissue them as kids cycle through.
Not to mention the uniform pieces change every year, too. Unless you had a "pass down" piece, you had to return the pieces from one class year and get issued your set for next year.
Just makes more business sense.

If I had the pride to wear I would have the pride to own.
Would not want to wear something someone else washed out in. Wearing anothers failure just seems like greater fail.
Anyway, did not mean to go so far off track, was just teasing you for wearing the shorts with the boots.
FWIW, if you ride, you do NOT want to wear shorts with boots, and this is practical advice, not fashion advice.

I think you misunderstood me. Washouts aren't the sole reason the unis are rented. It just makes more sense (saves both the Corps and the students money).
