Back when my dad was a cop in Brazos County we used to have BBQs with a bunch of cops. You wouldnt believe how many would stop by on duty and drink a beer or two.

nah he got arrested and has already been reinstated because he has an alibi. If the cops blow a hole in that alibi, he gone. But otherwise I think he's good to go

So what the hell does our defensive two-deep look like in the fall at this point?
Here's my projection post-spring. It had zero players that hadn't yet enrolled.
WDE - Hall (SO), Taylor (SO)
DT - Z Williams (JR), Manning (FR) OR Walker (SO)
NT - Golden (SO), Henderson (FR) OR Walker (SO)
SDE - Stansbury (SR), Arnold (SO) OR Obioha (JR)
WLB - Claiborne (SO), Hilliard (SO)
MLB - Mastrogiavanni (SO), Chevis (FR) OR Bass (SR)
SLB - Washington (SO), Baggs (SR)
Nickel - Burns (JR), Ellis (SO) OR Sezer (SO)
CB - Everett (SR), Davis (FR)
CB - Harris (JR), Garner (SO)
SS - Matthews (SR), Burns (JR)
FS - Raven (SR), Honeycutt (SR)
I'd assume you could probably plug Sanders in at WLB with Hilliard. He didn't participate in spring so no telling where he stands. At NT we just lost the OR as we already had 3 in there.
I don't think it's as devastating as everyone seems to think. It sucks but not like we're set back a year or anything.

ROBINSON is retiring. Stansbury is fighting bogus charges.

Hopefully they are bogus. It seems a little murky to me.

Whatever happened to Tyrone and Tyrell Taylor? They are still on the team and one of the played pretty well in 2012 IIRC.

The biggest hit is the lack that we now have zero known playmakers at LB. Every single starting spot is open.

He wasn't very good last year but a lot of positive vibes for Mastro this spring.... gotta hope that's gonna translate into the season this fall.

Tyrell Taylor basically didn't play last year after the first game or two. He's a SR this year. Tyrone Taylor will be a R-SO. He played a little but in the bowl game neither made an appearance despite both Stansbury and Obioha being out.
I don't see them ever being a factor tbh but in the above I do have Tyrone as 2nd team WDE. I think he'll be passed by Garrett though

Definitely true. I'd be more concerned if we spent the spring thinking these two were going to major contributors. But honestly they weren't sure if either would be there in the fall so they made plans around that possibility.

Honestly all of these arrests are telling me that we are recruiting the right kind of players.
There has to be some sort of correlation between higher arrest rates and higher win totals.

I wonder if they will ever go to trial on this.
The prosecutor's main witnesses are law-breakers themselves (it was a robbery after a drug deal). Though they have as much rights to be safe as law abiding citizens do, any half-baked defense attorney will shred their credibility on the witness stand.
But I agree, these are not people who need to be associated with the A&M program. Let them go to The U where thuggery is a badge of honor.

I would guess Golden pleas down and testifies on Claiborne if it's true Claiborne did the pistol whipping and had the gun. In also assuming Claiborne didn't acquire the gun legitimately so that could be more against him
Knowing CS and Brazos County they will want to make sure both don't get off easy though

I know this is a joke but since we're discussing it...
You always want the best players you can get. But there's a line you don't want to cross. When a kid gets in trouble he can take others with him because that is generally your group of friends. Right now we've got a few sketchy groups on the team and it has led to a lot of these problems.
We flat passed on two borderline top 10 in state guys last year because of character concerns. That doesn't necessarily mean they are bad guys, simply that we are making a concerted effort to bring in foundation guys. If we take a chance on someone going forward, it will probably only be true game changers and there will probably be a pretty lively discussion about players in his position group or from his HS.
We just don't want to take risks given the current team composition. All the talent in the world doesn't overcome being a knucklehead. There is a pretty high profile recruit in this class that we have similar reservations about. We're recruiting him though so I'm pretty interested if that changes with this news. There is a very specific reason I think it'll be okay but I'm not sure how much risk we really want to take on.
The '14 defensive class is chock full of elite guys we'll never have to sweat: Garrett, Cunningham, Johnson, Alaka, Walker, Washington. These are honor society, church goin' types that just aren't going to be problems. The advantage of recruiting really well is not having to take as many chances. Hopefully this is the end of the chaos and the young leaders will begin to take hold of this team because it's hurting the team, recruiting, and even university fundraising.

While I pray you are right you can never tell. Many kids are saints in HS and turn out to be thugs. I remember a story on Kam Miles when he committed put out by a TV station that made him look incredibly disciplined and focused with a great head on his shoulders.
Teenagers gonna teenager.

very true. Just like in talent evals you aren't ever going to be 100%. But a knucklehead here or there isn't a problem, especially in BCS. It's when they start getting in groups. You can't pick guys' friends for them and just like hot chicks, knuckleheads tend to gravitate together.

So what would be the knucklehead equivalent of the fat friend?
