Could we use more intimidating yells?

This is centered around the statement the yell leaders put out about booing and cursing. Link here I like the horse laugh and always enjoyed doing it (and that's a hill I'll die on). I think it's individual and rare and lets face it, a bit cultish. But intimidating it is not, I think very few of them are. Are the yell leaders right? Should we remain civil and "nice" or join in the SEC hate and collectively tell LSU to eat a bag of dicks?

Horse Laugh didn't used to end with "let's give em the horse laugh."
It used to end with "the ref is a horse's arse" followed by a Bronx cheer.
The most intimidating yell is always "Sit Down Bus Driver!" but it's entirely situational and best with basketball.

Don't know. Probably some one got offended by it. Just like now the BQs can no longer sing the Aggie Band Queer song in Duncan because some wag who whined to her O5 father.

About 5 years ago IIRC.
My wife laughed hysterically when we sang it to her at my wedding and she was furious when Josh's wife wouldn't allow it.

That sucks...literally one of the funniest things done at Duncan. It was so funny because most CTs never knew what we were singing.

I wasn’t at the game and didn’t hear about it until afterwards but this is the only thing I think crosses the line. We only get like 7 home games a year, I think the players deserve that we at least take 3 hours to focus on what’s happening on the field and leave all the other non-sense out of it.
I’m also somewhat sympathetic that Kyle Field should be a place that you would want to take your kid to a game. I understand that having close to 40000 students chanting obscenities would take away from that.
I started at A&M 10 years ago. The student section (and most of the stadium) has been booing bad calls at least since then. The Horse Laugh is dead (and stupid). And we should just let it go peacefully IMO.

Yep. Hope unified cursing doesn't catch on, but absolutely in favor of dropping the hiss and booing. Some former players were talking about how lame the hissing is on twitter last night in response to the letter

Reality is the school is just different now. The Corps is just a small part of the University and less than 10%. The traditions will continue to evolve because of that and we will be more and more like other schools which has been happening for a long time and we are well past the threshold. We have a lot more in common with the sips than we do The Citadel now and that's fine and overall a big positive. That means we become a lot more individualistic and less disciplined.
FWIW it aggravates me that some of the things that they have held on to tradition wise are the goofy stuff and some of it has actually exaggerated. For instance the Yell Leaders acting more and more animated. My Dad was a Yell Leader in the '50s and they didn't do so much animation and showy crap that looks gay. Crap like the pseudo pushups and exaggerated movements on yells.
Old Army has been going to hell though since 1877.

Back when I was in school, one of the old yellow leaders came and spoke at yell practice. He told an original story that was actually funny. This was after we had heard the current yell leaders tell the same damn story over and over again with shite delivery and zero comedic timing.
I remember thinking that the whole group yell and yell leading tradition had become "canned" routine. I remember thinking then, and I still think, that yell practice should actually be a practice for new yells specifically tailored for the opponent the next day.
Why do we stick with the same routine when there are so many opportunities to raise hell with 30,000+ blasting said hell right into the opposing bench?
Remember the Watermelon yell we did for good ole Rick Barns?

Tbqh, I never viewed the yells as being meant to intimidate. Other than "Bus Driver," they're rarely actually directed at the opposition. More about just loud, coordinated support for the Ags.
As far as "Horse Laugh," I think the hissing tradition is fun, but ultimately pretty hokey. Never understood how it's supposedly "classier" than booing. The intent is the same, it's just harder to hear/officials opponents don't really ever understand what's going on Also kinda weird some can yell "SOUNDS LIKE HELL!" but clutch pearls over booing/profanity.
I was wondering if I'd feel different about the environment when I brought kids to Kyle Field, but honestly I didn't. Maybe partly because Aggiebelle and I both cuss like sailors semi-regularly, but also because I simply expect some edgy stuff in a sports stadium environment. People of all ages are there--I think it's silly to expect the same behavior from geeked up college students letting loose at a high stakes football game as I'd expect when taking my kids to see something like PAW Patrol Live!

BTHO of whoever is one of my favorites. Loud, distinct, and short.
However nothing is more intimidating than just the sheer volume of noise after a great play. Nothing is more intimidating than the roar after the defense makes a play. That stuff is truly intimidating
Kyle field is not intimidating unless we have a big time defense. When we do it is deafening at times.

This is truth. Defense is what really gets Kyle loud consistently.
