"I never said that", or the inverse, "I knew all along but just couldn't say. I dropped hints. You must not have picked up on the subtext."

Perhaps... But Foster has still yet to sign an extension and we are just two weeks away from his 800k VT annuity payment kicking in.

UF announced a new DC hire today, so Durkin might be in play.

I hope not. I'm not feeling it, but I should probably look into him more before I form an opinion.

pretty sure that Stanford D was pretty salty when he was there and they recruited well (even by Stanford standards)

But he wasn't the DC.

True, but that doesn't preclude him from being a good coach and quality recruiter. It just means he has something to prove. Obviously someone liked his talent since he got the promotion under a head coach that is highly regarded as a great defensive coach.

True, but I'd rather have 20 years of stud defenses from a DC vs 1ish and some potential.

I think we'd all prefer to get someone like Foster, Pelini or Venables including Sumlin. Pretty sure Durkin is being considered as a backup option to guys like that if he truly is an option

I was just naming the first three experienced track record type guys who came to my head as examples. I doubt Pelini was a serious candidate either.

Florida is hiring the Mississippi St. DC, so Durkin is "available."

Sounds like our final 4 is Durkin, Foster, Maddison, & Chizik.

I hope we get Durkin just for the inevitable name change to _J _urkin when he starts to suck it up

But for the record, I definitely hope its Bud Foster

We all do, though if we can't get Foster/Venables, I would be content with Durkin. Good pedigree, good recruiter, injection of energy and excitement.

Don't know this for sure. No one knows anything. His name is out there --> he's a candidate until it's denied or we've made a hire.
