I tried and couldn't get into AOT. Does it get better after season 1?

Big fan of Spy x Family.

IMO, yes

Season one is the start but as it progresses it gets better over time, Season 4 is an absolute home run (I know you like baseball so I'm trying to make it more easier for you Farmer)

Haven't watched Spy x Family, how is it?

Light hearted and fun. Little girl is really lovable, but there is political, spy, assassin stuff too.

It's the GOAT, in my opinion. Rivaled perhaps by Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, or the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter. But AoT is the gold standard, IMO. Just incredible.

Agreed, AoT is the GOAT for sure, all the other Anime series you've mentioned are elite but not as elite as AoT. I'll get to Spy x Family soon enough, just give me some time and I'll watch it

In other news: Mavs are rolling, yo. Kyrie and Luka are meshing together and they look unstoppable when the Mavs are hot. I will not critize Cuban and his FO moves until the offseason

So much good stuff out there. I just began Spy x Family recently. Was catching up on Dr. Stone (not as elite as AoT, but still very enjoyable).

Dont worry Tbird, you'll get Wembanyama/Black (would say Miller but not touching that pole) and then hopefully y'all will be set. You guys have some talented rookies, they just need time to blossom.

I've been through the tank multiple times, you just look at draft boards mid-season or what ESPN tells you to look for

The Texas NBA scene is better when the Spurs and Mavs are great at the same time

At least Keldon Johnson is shaping up to be a great player for y'all. Quality young guys will be the face of your franchise or shipped away for scraps in 3 years is what I've learned

Be thankful you don't have to hear Charles Barkley ragging on the San Antonio women again

I just got back from watching Spy x Family and I've gotta say, the episodes I've watched so far are worth it, thanks for the Anime watch advice, liked it

I'm always open to having more NBA discussion in this thread if you want Tbird, get in with the program

Glad to hear! It's solid. Think I'm g2 have Aggiebelle start her anime journey with that one. Lighthearted but with some intrigue. Also want her to see "Cells at Work!" that one was just fun!

I'm down! Lol I've been getting annoyed with some of the right-wing fuddy duddies in my circles who can't talk hoops without getting into political quagmires. I enjoy political discussion, but prefer sports discussion WAY more.

One dude the other day told me he didn't like the modern NBA game, then proceeded to demonstrate he didn't know shite about the modern game It was maddening.

Half of them don't even watch the NBA on a semi-regular basis and yet they have very questionable takes about the NBA. It's fun to rustle jimmies but then it gets annoying after a while, y'know?

Also I think I saw that they're getting the NBA back to NBC some time soon (I think my eyes decived me tho). Was scrolling r/NBA and saw that so I thought "damn they better bring the intro back" and my mind raced to find the SNL skit and this shite was good, you should watch

LeBron ruined the game. That's a scientific fact.

Lebron is a turd but he wasn’t the first to do what he did. Shaq, and many others did it too.

At least Barkley waited for the twilight of his career to become a mercenary in search of a ring

But what Labron did with the heat wasn’t original, just the most despised maybe

I agree but he solidfied the superteam dynamic

KD and the Warriors, KD and the Nets, KD and the Suns

...I'm noticing KD is a trend in most of these

It’s tragic too because I miss the days when any team could rise to a title with 1 true loyal superstar if you just got the right, talented role players around them

Now, unless you have a minimum of 2 true super stars you aren’t doing squat

I think this can still be the case, for example Portland during their playoff runs. Very hard to do in the modern game but it could be done.

I think this superteam is the shift between player-owner dynamics. Before the 2012 lockdown, the Owners had a lot of power and the player's association barely had power. That dynamic changed and players can demand and the owners barely have any leverage, hence the superteams

I'm not even talking about his superteam sagas (yes, "the decision" was the epitome of LeBron being 'LeBron'). Just overall, he single handedly ruined the game. But I guess it isn't entirely his fault. The NBA was the one who decided to market their league around that narcissistic imbecile. Everything they've done (like killing defenses) has been centered around selling that fatuous Chinese sellout as the greatest player ever (even if it hurts the product on the court). The commissioner is a huge putz who bends over for LeBron and gives in to any demands he brings him in order to keep him happy (on an unrelated note, Adam Silver looks like he got picked on as a kid).

It's almost as if the NBA has become scripted around LeBron at this point. Y'all just watch; In 2024, LeBron will be requesting a trade that involves his son and the league will facilitate it behind the scenes (either LeBron goes to his son or he brings his son to the Lakers). Then he will build one last superteam (with the league facilitating again) and he will try to win a championship. The NBA and ESPN will market the hell out of this as one of the greatest moments in basketball history ( ) as the league continues to deemphasize defense in order to manufacture more "stars" (in the hopes of looking for the next "LeBron" to shove down our throats). NBA games these days look more and more like a Harlem Globetrotters exhibition games .

Yes, LeBron ruined the game for me. But I will admit that it isn't entirely his fault. The NBA is just driven by greed as they try to duplicate the Michael Jordan era that grew their brand to new heights. Michael Jordan single handedly made the game of basketball into a global sensation and the NBA has been trying so hard to duplicate that. Unfortunately, the NBA has actually fooled a lot of casuals into believing that LeBron is just as good as (if not better than) Michael Jordan. Anyone with a brain can see that LeBron is a synthetic NBA star. His stats have been stained by the changes in gameplay that benefit offensive stats. LeBron wouldn't have been this successful had he played 90s style basketball. The changes in sports medicine and rules/regulations means he would have gotten less points and had a shorter career. Still good? Absolutely. But the guy isn't reaching Michael Jordan hype.
