just out of pure curiosity, what would be everyones reaction if we ever scheduled a game against fran? would people lose their shite over how much they want to beat him?

My friends and I were bullshitting the other day about "what if the first game at new Kyle is against TX State and Fran". We discussed how we would hope Sumlin ran up the score and them of course some a-hole had to throw out the "what if we lost"

Good thing I worded it differently.

I have pondered this outcome for a solid hour since I read this post.

Contemplating the end of the world is a rather glum affair.

After the initial chock wore off I'd be pumped to thrash him.

If we lost though... man... that's the kind of loss that would damage my will to watch college football.

You mean like:

Oklahoma 2003
Baylor 2004
Iowa State 2005
California 2006
Miami 2007
Arkansas State 2008
Colorado 2009
Missouri 2010
all 6 losses in 2011

2 detectives and a criminal? That would be cool.

The worst for me is still Tech in 1999. I was 12 and we were in the top 5, but Tech got two freak bounces and a bullshite holding call to win 19-17 or something.

I didnt watch football for probably 3-4 weeks after.

Going back even further to MY time in school:

USL 1996
Texas Tech 1997
Ohio State 1998
all three blowout losses in 1999
Colorado and Miss. State 2000
Texas Tech 2001
Texas Tech, Nebraska, and Missouri 2002

Still not as bad as losing in Norman 51-6, getting shut out by Nebraska 37-0 in Lincoln the week after, then getting raped by Jerry Sandusky in San Antonio 24-0.

There was a literal stretch in the 1999 season where we went almost 3 full games without an offensive TD:

Southern Miss - won 23-6 (2 INT returns for TD, 3 FG)
Texas Tech - lost 21-19 (scored on a blocked punt return, 4 field goals. Phantom Holding call wiped out a 20 yard reception by Matt Bumgartner down to the TT10 and forced a 4th and 28 pass from the A&M 45)
Baylor - Won 45-13 (scored on an INT return in the first quarter, first offensive TD happened at the 2:53 mark of the 1st half)
