I still cant understand how he is only going to get 180 days of 100% mandatory jail time for this.
I can't even comprehend why the jury only recommended 8 years of probation when they found him guilty.
Was he not actually found guilty of rape? Was it a lesser sexual assault charge or something?

shite man, it kind of does depending on if what I heard on the radio is true or not.
I forget which Dallas station was saying this but they said b/c the jury only recommended probation the judge was not allowed to give more than 180 days of jail time.
Is that actually correct?

Texas Monthly is on a Witch Hunt. Is it possible this is really a UT homer with no disguise at all that wroteb this junior high piece? Who is the college of choice of our writer? Di he really pass his journalism classes? Or is Texas Monthly so lax in their hiring that they do not require real journalists?

They recommended a probated 8 years. That means as long as he meets certain conditions he never sets foot in jail. Unless they flat out didn't understand what they were doing they didn't want to send him to jail at all.

This is one instance in which Texas grads dominating the political, journalistic and legal arenas in this state will be to our benefit. If there is a way to bring Baylor down it will be found because Texas cant stand that they are second fiddle these days.

It would be awesome if the feds decided to make Baylor the Title IX bitch they've been looking for.

A jury in Waco’s 54th State District Court deliberated about three hours before rejecting prosecutors’ pleas for a lengthy prison term and recommending that Judge Matt Johnson sentence the standout defensive end to eight years probation.
Johnson bumped up that recommendation by two years, sentencing the 22-year-old Pearland native to 10 years felony probation. He also sentenced him to 180 days in the county jail, the maximum sentence he could impose as a condition of probation. Ukwuachu also must perform 400 hours of community service.

again, unless they didnt understand what they were doing, they did not intend for him to go to prison.

Rumor on the internet now is that the girl's scholarship reduction (which is the reason she eventually transferred) happened within a week of the school being made aware of her allegations.
If true, holy shite. Baylor is going to burn.

This.
Will be interesting to see if the big money donors at Baylor try to defend this or try and salvage the school's reputation by demanding heads.
I would hope A&M would start firing everybody

totally didn't understand this as I thought the judge reduced the sentence
If I'm reading that right, the judge does not have discretion to give more than 180 days jail time because of the probation the jury recommended. Is that what everyone else gets? Or is it the crime carries a max 180 days (bc I thought it was 20 years)?
