I started a support thread on the help board and then was told he wasn't banned by finest first so I deleted it

I'm glad to be on your board. I hope this comment doesn't get me banned. But Roger admitted to trolling using Katrina. He literally said he's seen it get a rise out of LSU fans when other aggies mentioned it. I wanna say he mentioned Shane and fawx? For sure said fawx.
I mean come on. I know I went on a tear with the bonfire shite after that too, and could have easily been banned. But he started on the katrina shite in a football related thread and then admitted to doing it specifically because he knew it'd piss us off.
Considering a lot of my family was put out by Katrina, I take major offense to anyone using it in any manner other than melancholy. It's not fricking funny and it shouldn't be used as a trolling tool.

Maybe he made a comment I missed. I only saw the one about folks that relocated to Houston over 10 years ago. Which had nothing to do with the devestation of the gulf coast.

I am in the EXACT same boat. All of my family is north shore now, and the house all my aunts and uncles and myself grew up in is gone gone. No one got hurt, but Katrina undid the world. Seeing that house pop up on national news with the big X on it will always haunt me.
With that said, it has been a decade and there are some people who left after Katrina who are basically Texans now. I am not trying to excuse what Roger did completely, just saying that to me that isn't really a part of the story today.
A levee breach joke, or a looting the stores joke, or a Superdome as a last resort joke, or even just a flooding joke is over the line to me. Those were all tragic circumstances, and should be a third rail.
Joking about people who are basically Texans, I don't know. Maybe you are right. I think it is on the line though. Like joking with Aggies about ANY fire.
Maybe I am wrong, just putting in my two cents. I don't think the intention matters, finding that magic combo of offending people without getting banned is the same spirit quest half the people on the Rant have undertaken.

The intention to me is everything. It only bothers us because we were affected by it in a terrible way. He's using not only a tragedy, but a personal tragedy, to for his own amusement. Anonymously. On a website created by LSU fans. It's cowardly. I guarantee you he wouldn't crack a Katrina joke to my face. I don't know how anyone could expect it to be taken in any other way. Or how it could be expected that he be unbanned in just a couple of days.
All that said, I've always like roger as a poster. I just think he went way too far and then his attempts to backtrack made it even worse.
