A question about regime changes, and bowl preparation.

Generally speaking, how hands on are new HC's with the existing team leading up to the bowl game? Are they generally just silent observers while also hitting the recruiting trail? Are there rules in place for new coaches and how involved they can be with the existing team? Do they usually attend practices, or keep some distance and allow the interim staff to do as they wish?

Just curious how this period usually works for programs?

I imagine the standard is pretty hands off

But something about fisher tells me he is having some involvement

A win helps his recruiting and makes his future easier, a loss can hurt his progress

So I reckon he’s asking questions about schemes and offering input on our game plan

pretty sure all they do is watch film, evaluate and recruit. anything else would be a waste of time. it would be cool to see jimbo on the sidelines with a headset though, for no other reason than to frick with people.

Normally they use it as evaluation time for both players and coaches. It is way to see personnel and how they work and compete. Usually pretty rare for them to be heavily involved in planning and scheme from what I have seen.

And he’s an alpha, no alpha just sits there and watches, and I’m sure Banks welcomes his input since winning the game is very important to him

Seems like Jimbo is too busy with recruiting to get involved.

I’d be shocked if Banks wasn’t asking him for input, remember Fishers FSU team played Wake every year and has a current 6 game winning streak over them

It would be crazy to imagine fisher not offering help and Banks would be insane to not seek and accept help from someone with intimate knowledge and a strong track record vs this opponent

From that interview you posted it seems like Jimbo is just running from recruit to recruit and he hasn't spent any time evaluating the roster or even getting to know the community he is moving to.

Which is great, that is what we want him to do. I will take a top ten class over a bowl win every fricking day.

from zwerneman:

Jimbo Fisher will of course be with the Aggies every step of the way in Charlotte for the Dec. 29 Belk Bowl: ‘I’ll observe practice and be there to represent Texas A&M.’ (He won’t be too hands on, adding ‘that’s their team.’)

I suspect Fisher has passed on information to the current staff concerning WF.

I imagine all of the former FSU coaches have been tasked with providing guidance on Wake Forest. I doubt Jimbo wants to recruit against a bowl loss and a losing record.

We are 7-5...not gonna have a losing record. I doubt Jimbo and this recruiting class will be affected at all by the outcome of this game. I do think that he is sitting in on some of the game plan meetings and giving input on Wake Forest.

You are correct, I don't know why I keep thinking 6-6. It feels like we went 6-6 this year.

It felt like 4-8, that Mississippi State game was a kick to the nuts

I might be alone in this but in hindsight the loss didn’t look as bad imo considering how well MSU played in their next few games.

Have we heard anything on Banks retention? I thought I saw it mentioned here that he might be considering an associate HC position elsewhere. I couldn’t blame him if that were the case, but I sure would love to see him stay. I think he and Beatty were some of my favorites of the KDS era.
