Ryan @ TA is confident we’ve secured a top 8. D1 has kept A&M in the top 8 for a while now. I think these sources are pretty locked in.
Now all that I ask is that we get a 4 seed that doesn’t have a legit ace. If we have to throw Dettmer game 1 I worry we won’t get out of regionals. I just don’t trust Dallas, Preager, & whoever else to win 2/3 vs a decent 2 or 3 seed.
Not asking but I’d also prefer to not be a 4/5/8 seed to avoid UT in Omaha before the finals.

So the seven seed is the best spot ... hope that baseball america is right, then. I would just like to see us get out of regional play at this point. Just so you know I disagree with you - if we are going to get Tennessee in Omaha might as well be at the start before the pitching is exhausted
It would be a success to actually get out of the Regional, first and foremost

So the five it is. We have a tough regional which was expected. TCU is a better draw than Oklahoma. ULL means Matt Deggs coming back to Kyle Field. ORU is not a new foe either.

He friends with Jimbo?
Deggs is aweomse. I always root for him when it doesn't hurt us.

Agreed. Schloss and his team do pretty in-depth scouting reports. He'll have so much more data to pull from since he is so familiar with TCU. I think we're uniquely positioned to beat them.
As I said on the other thread, Oral Bob is one of the worst 4 seeds to get.
This 1-2 punch in Ace-Closer is not something a 4 seed should possess. This makes me worry we'll need to use Dettmer in game 1. And if we do that, it means we have to go through the rest of the regional riding Dallas, Prager, & whoever else we decide to start.
I haven't looked into Louisiana that closely, but outside of a series win vs Georgia Southern, they lost all their toughest games/series.
Overall, its not bad, but its not great either. I would gladly trade with tu, Lsu (even as a 2 seed), & UL.

Pretty sure we will use either Dallas or Dettmer in GM1. Schloss knows we don't have the pitching to end up in the losers bracket. He will pitch our best arms initially and go Johnny Full Staff after that ...

A few factoids.
This is A&M's 3rd national seed.
In 1999 we were 7th, hosted Clemson, and went to the CWS
In 2016 we were 4th, hosted TCU, and went home.
This year we're 5th, and will host UL, UO, Michigan, or SEMO.
We have played in 8 supers. We're 3-5 in those series.
1999 - vs Clemson and won
2004 - @Lsu and lost
2007 - @Rice and lost
2008 - @Rice and lost
2011 - @FSU and won
2015 - @TCU and lost
2016 - vs TCU and lost
2017 - vs Davison and won
Schloss has had a bit more success than we have. He's been to 7 supers and has gone 5-2.
Our last regional appearance was @ West Virginia in 2019. We dropped game 1, recovered game 2 (vs 4 seed), and should have lost game 3. But then this happened. . Even with the comeback, we lost in the finals vs Duke.
Since the new format started in 1999 we have played in 17 (counting this year). We have advanced 8 out of 16 times. Only twice have we not advanced when hosting (2003-UH & 2012-TCU). We have advanced twice when not hosting (2004-Rice & 2017-UH).

My dad said he’s interested in going to a bunch of these games, but that he’s confused in buying tickets…he old. Figured I’d check here first before looking into it. Are they selling regional passes, can the general public buy one or are they expected to be sold out to priority season ticket holders, where does he need to go to buy an all-session ticket?

This is from a KBTX article

Your best bet for getting good-to-decent seats is probably regularly monitoring the Texags ticket forum. You can find some really good deals if you get lucky enough, but there's a lot of competition there

For tv/streaming, I'm guessing the ESPN+ designation for our game means that you'll need an actual ESPN+ subscription and SECN+ won't be enough, correct?
Posted on 5/31/22 at 10:07 pm to NanosTacoRun
Thanks for info. Will pass along.
Regarding espn+ you will in fact need an espn+ subscription to watch the games. I just got done double checking this for my dad, because I just assumed he was getting espn+ & espn3 confused, but he was correct. It appears the games will only be available with an espn+ subscription.

6.99 for a month isn't too bad, at least.

He is an idea. Not sure its a good one, but its one.
Oral Roberts is a legit threat. Play it safe with Dettmer. Either get out to a quick lead and you can pull him early or ride him to keep everyone else fresh. Then he can come back and help on Monday if it gets there.
According to the D1Baseball guys, TCU has trouble against LHP. Start Preager and follow up with Moo & Palish. Just blast them from the left side.
Game 3 you have a well-rested Dallas.
If all goes well, you don't run out of pitching. If you get an if-necessary game, both teams will likely be out of pitching. In that case, I like our offense to carry us.

Not for tournement baseball. It usually is for their normal programing.

Still incredible to me that the GS came in the bottom of the 9th, down 3, w/2 outs and a 3-2 count.
That's movie shite that people say is unrealistic right there.
