100% this. There is a chance of rain out so maybe something gets weird with a 1-1 split.

So I think I've changed my mind on this. Despite the series win, I think there is going to be pressure to not have 6 SEC hosts.

Vandy, UGA, MSU, and Arky are locked in as hosts (and probably all national seeds). UT, A&M, and LSU all have top 20 RPIs. UT ended with a losing conference record so I think they are out.So if the committee holds on 5, it comes down to A&M v LSU for that 5th spot.

LSU won the series head to head and is going to end up with a better conference record so I think they are more likely. However, it would help our cause immensely if Auburn wins today as it likely pushes LSU to 20 RPI (vs our 14) and would leave us a 1/2 game apart in the standings (17-13 vs 16-13-1).

So let's go Tigers! Beat the Tigers!

Just beat the gators Tuesday AM and it's all moot... I think.

I started out the weekend thinking we needed 2/3 vs. Arkansas and 2 wins in Hoover. But those 2 Arky wins were mighty impressive. I realize I may be a bit biased. Just a bit.

It would certainly help and it's nice to have Lacy for that one.

But if LSU does better than us, it's going to take the committee making the decision to give us 6 hosts. For all the whining about SEC bias, the last few years it's pretty obvious it has been bias against the SEC because SEC schools have to have far and away better metrics.

Tigers and Tigahs are going to the 10th.

I still like our chances. I’m not looking it up at the moment but hasn’t there been 6 hosts before?

It’ll be tight vs Lsu if it does come down the two of us. But if we keep a 6 spot lead in the RPI then I think it’ll be tough.

Yes. In fact there were 7 in 2016 when there were 4 SEC national seeds and 3 other hosts. All 7 were in the top 15 in RPI.

I don't mean to imply we won't (or can't) get 6, I'm just saying it could very easily be a factor.

ETA - and Auburn wins!

Riddle me this. How does A&M takes 2/3 from the #4 team (still #4) and jumps 1 spot. But Lsu takes 2/3 from now unranked (idk if they were ranked) Auburn and moves up 6, including leap frogging us.

Potential opponents in Hoover (RPI)

First Round
Florida(25)

Second Round (assuming we don't lose game 1)
Georgia(3)

Loser's Bracket/Semi Finals
Arkansas(6), Ole Miss(31), or Missouri(26)

Unless we pull this game against Florida off at the end, it will definitely be a ROAD to Omaha.

That's not necessarily true.

Right, it's still not a given that we host, but our odds went up significantly after beating Florida.

I feel pretty good about it, but I still think we had a decent shot of hosting even if we lost.

Seconded!

Though I do think Aggie hosting chances went from "probably" to "oh, hell yeah" today.

Our chances went from "possibly" to "likely".

A win over Georgia OR the loser of game 6 moves it from "likely" to "almost certain".

2 more wins locks it in.

There's ALWAYS one to poop on the party, ain't there?

We don't need realism right now!

The selection committee doesn't base their decisions on A&M on realism.

See "Hyman, Eric" as evidence.

I don’t think we have much to gain. Maybe if we win another 2 or 3 we’ll move up top the top 12 and get a slightly easier match up, but there is no reason to keep out of hosting. Plus they don’t penalize too much with these tournaments. Usually, it is an opportunity to improve.

I would guess your guess is wrong.

It is fascinating the way the tourney bracket laid out. We will get absolutely no benefit from the game last night (pitching) unless us and either LSU or MSU make it to the championship game.
