...? Its like 20 mi from downtown Dallas per google maps.

I currently live 36 mi from MMP. You better believe the Astros are my hometown team.

I live in East Dallas. It's more like 25-30 on a good day w/little traffic and the Rangers are in Arlington, not Dallas. That's more like 45-60 minutes of driving. Same goes for getting there from downtown, look at the map again, shortest time is listed at 27. Good luck actually hitting that.

Sorry but the Rangers are not the hometown team of Forney. Not even close.

I would never have said when I was living in Tyler that "Oh hey guys, there's this cool even in my hometown called First Monday! Just need to drive half an hour to 45 minutes to Canton to do it!"

A person from Longview would never say that they have an airport in their hometown called Tyler Pounds Field. A person who lives in Marshall would not say that they have casinos in their hometown when they are actually in Shreveport. etc etc etc

PS, the Stros aren't your hometown team either. Sorry baw.

Seems like a silly way to look at things. Everyone in the Greater Houston area considers the Astros the hometown team.

They'd be wrong.

Words have meaning. If the team isn't actually in your city it's not your hometown team. Again, Forney is 45-60 minutes from Arlington w/o traffic. Depending what part of Forney you live in that's anywhere from 40-50 miles away.

And before you ask, no, I don't consider the Cowboys to be the hometown team of Dallas. They are the team for the DFW metroplex sure. But they are not located in Dallas, they don't pay Dallas taxes, they don't create jobs for Dallas, and none of their infrastructure is located in Dallas. They are Dallas in name only.

And Kingwood is in the Houston city limits, but they can be 2 hours drive to MMP while Ballaire is not Houston city limits yet its 10-15 mi to MMP. Seems like a really silly thing to argue.

Also, hometown can be where you were born and grew up so the Astros are still my hometown team even with your silly thought process.

It's just something that has always been a pet peeve of mine since I was growing up in Tyler and would hear people saying that's where they were from when they were actually from places like Whitehouse and Chapel Hill. Same goes for when a person says they from Houston when they are actually from Katy or that they are from Dallas when they are actually from McKinney.

The excuse is always "Well nobody knows where my actual place is" to which I say "and they never will if you can't simply say I'm from "X" which is near the city of "Y".

I understand the pet peeve, I was always sort of that way about Houston. But saying who the hometown professional sports team is a little different. If they only drew from the surrounding neighborhoods then there would be no reason to build the stadiums.

All I'm saying is it's dumb ad incorrect call the Rangers the hometown team of Forney when they've never been located anywhere near it. They've always been in Arlington which is nearly an hour away. It's not the hometown team of Forney. Period.

As for for this

Too bad so sad. Houston is big AF. So what if you are on one end while a suburb is closer? If you don't live in Houston you don't live in Houston.

i grew up in a little city called san gabriel. maybe 40,000 people. its about 7 miles north east of LA. i generally tell people im from LA if they have no clue about the greater LA area or southern california in general and ill tell people im from pasadena if they know the southland

its just easier

Houston just may annex another burb in just to prove you wrong.

Bellaire is actually like an island within Houston. It's surrounded by Houston city limits.

Again, they'll never learn anything about the area you live if you aren't willing to tell them. It takes like 10 seconds to say "I live here which is right near there. Great place. Better cost of living. Close enough to downtown it's no worries not being in LA proper."

So like University Park and Highland Park in Dallas.

This is why you tell people where you are actually at. We all learn things!

I read your earlier descriptions of Tyler and various small towns. Can honestly say I did not learn anything I ever care to use.
