So we done? We out?

Didn't heavily invest myself this year and it feels good.

Yeah, they whimpered all the way to 3 straight wins in the SECT and beating #2 seed in the opening round. Sniveling whimperers, sez me.

On Sherrod I'd agree. Chafin was undefeated until today, and pitched nails against Vandy in the first round of SECT. But that pretty much sums up the season for me... I just never knew who was going to show up.

We were a #11 seed in conference, a #3 seed in regional, and went 1-2. What’s sunshine pumper?

you can just see it in our guys' eyes, the rivalry doesnt mean shite to them. none of them know what its like to grow up despising TU, yet every single ballplayer from austin gets sick and tired of hearing about SEC-SEC and how the Ags put one over on them in realignment.

When they announced we were playing texas in the selection show, the mood in the longhorn locker room was orgasmic. that clemens kid probly creamed his pants. The hunter has become the hunted. its going to be like this in every sport from now until the foreseeable future and its pathetic that our coach cant instill this motivation into our guys. Parker french, Ben johnson, kody clemens, all sips whose names i will remember for the rest of my life cause they talked loads of shite yet backed it up while we folded. frick that hurt to type.

Kendall Rogers on RC’s smoking hot seat

Get real. How many coaches go to the postseason 12-straight times and enter the year on the hot seat? Side note: Go look at A&M’s returning personnel. They’re going to be very good next year.

He’s a top 15 type coach. He’s been constantly good for a extended period of time. He’s well on his way to be coming Mike Martin. He just needs to do it for any 30 years.

I am sure we will be very good but at a certain point there needs to be an expectation for more than just average to good regular seasons with little else to show for it. I don’t know when that point is, and I don’t think RC is a bad coach or anything, but baseball is the Big 3 sport we have the most potential in and IMO should have the highest expectations out of the 3.

Money wins because football is football (and I’m not complaining about that) but we should have sky high expectations for our baseball program

Let’s be honest with ourselves though, firing Slocum didn’t exactly work out so well for us

Yeah I’m not necessarily advocating firing him right now. Postseason baseball is random as shite. If our 15 or 16 team gets the luck that the 17 team got as far as SR matchup who knows what happens.

I also think the floor for our baseball program is a lot higher than football. A lot less risk if we made a move IMO

That is exactly why I don't want to play them again in football.

You can call it "scared" or whatever, but I can easily see a situation where we are the game circled on their calender every year while they are behind Bama or LSU on the list of teams our players want to beat.

We know firsthand from our fairly even record in the life of the Big 12 vs them that an underdog that puts everything into that game can get an upset more often than they should. frick letting them ruin our seasons, frick fixing their home schedule, and frick "putting it all out on the field" when that so often fricks us over.

Baseball is also the sport that is easiest for a lesser (less funded, less attended, small conference, etc) programs to compete in and a sport with a lot of randomness to its postseason. Last 2 season's super regionals (aka sweet 16) included Davidson, Long Beach. Cal St Fullerton, Sam Houston, Missouri State, Coastal Carolina, US Santa Barbara, East Carolina, and Boston College.

Without having an under the table deal done for a proven upgrade over RC, I don't think we can afford to fire him if he keeps doing what he has been. It's not easy to stay good enough to make the postseason year in and year out.

The floor is higher because RC makes it that way. Look at how we were with Mark Johnson at the end. From '99, when the changed the postseason format, to his last year in 2005 we made a regional 3 times.

No, but that was bigger than just RC. He may have kept us better than Fran, but he wasn't taking us to 10 win seasons anymore.

The postseason randomness is without question, but I disagree on your quote above compared to football and basketball, especially for a P5 program in Texas. The amount of prep baseball talent in Houston and Dallas is overwhelming and we have some of the nicest facilities in the country.

The part of me that does think Childress should have a hot seat going into next year sees us as the 4th best program in the state right now behind Tech TCU and Texas and I don’t think that’s acceptable. Next year is a big one for Childress IMO
