A&M wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire at linebacker recruiting when Snyder was here. Let's take a look at the linebackers recruited on his watch:
Darion Claiborne - Arrested
Reggie Chevis - moved to DL
Tommy Sanders - role player at best
Brett Wade - played 2 games then retired
Jordan Mastrogiovanni - We'll see if Chavis' coaching can revive his career
Otaro Alaka
Josh Walker - injury
This is the recruiting board...not the development/injury board.
Alaka, Walker, Wade, Mastrogiovanni, and even Tommy Sanders were all graded 4* quality talent. Everyone of those players have show glimpses of that talent.
Off field issues hampered Clairborne and some other "elite" prospects who failed to qualify including Derek David, Hoza Scott, and another kid from Blinn.

Travis Etienne, rising 4* RB from LA, will be attending the A&M bbq according to 247.

Evaluation of talent is a part of recruiting. Evaluation of character is a part of recruiting. Evaluation of a player's size and how it will translate on the field in your conference is a part of recruiting.
Coaching/Player development affects recruiting.
It's all relevant.

We need to ban some of these crappy posters. Get this stuff off out recruiting boards so our recruits don't see these trolls posting.
There's a board just for you, it's called TexAgs.com. You should go there.

The failure is a failure in coaching, a failure in getting the results needed to continue to continue to do well in recruiting. Two different things.
Yes. Have been thinking this for a couple of years. All we had to do was keep the ball rolling on the field, not necessarily win a natty, but avoid huge beatdowns, like we took, and beat LSU at least once, which we never have, and recruiting would have followed suit. The staff is not as gung-ho as I'd like, they aren't buying kids F-250's, which they should consider, but joking aside, they're good enough to get the job done had our actual performance given them any ammunition, but because of on-the-field performance, or lack thereof, they didn't have much to sell. Especially when our big rivals for recruits have been either doing well (LSU, Baylor) or cheating massively (Ole Miss, Texas). With Ole Miss in trouble and Baylor destroyed, that part of the equation just got easier, BUT, we have GOT to show out this year. We must be 10 wins or greater to get back in the recruiting saddle and wipe away the stink of Allen and the midget QB. If we can't get an on the field boost to complement this now much improved coaching staff, sayonara Sumlin. Which is too bad, because we have Chavis at DC, which is our first good DC in eons, and Turner, the OL whisperer, back and we finally got rid of the idiot child we had at OC, so had we any recruiting momentum, things would really be clicking now.

Yeah they're not bad at all. Good to sit on from time to time.

I don't believe wins have any real significant correlation with recruiting, the Sips proved that last year. I think the opportunity to start immediately is a bigger contributor. Nobody wants to ride the pine.
Check out A&M baseball this year. They have been in the top 5 nationally this entire season, but they are currently ranked 31st nationally.
That is 12th in the SEC, it would have been 6th in the Big 12 (behind Sips, TCU, TT,and OSU), and 4th in the state. The Sips were 11th nationally and didn't even make the post season.
This is probably because JB Moss, Barash, and Melton are the only Sr. position players. We had a similar situation with football where the only "full-time" starters that left A&M were Ifedi, Matthews, Tra Carson, Alonzo Williams and Devante Harris. Every single one of those players had a "blue chip" prospect slated as their back-up accept for Matthews, but the staff was very comfortable with Erick McCoy.

Ole Mi$$ doesn't think wins should correlate to recruiting results either

Getting him to campus for the barbecue with his friends is a big deal. After last year, we finally have better coaches and facilities than Auburn. The major hurdle to overcome now his perception. Gus Malzahn just got a contract extension, while our coach is on the "hot seat".
