What programs in the SECW won 10+ regular season games this season other than Bama? None

What team in 2015? None

Les Miles won 10+ games a year until the last couple of years. He even has a National Championship to his name. But LSU still fired him when his performance fell off, and the problems that had typified his tenure, namely an anemic offense, continued.

Gus Malzahn was the OC for Auburn for their National Championship season, and as HC got them back to the National Championship game. But a couple sub-par seasons, and he was back on the hotseat.

Bielema is in his 4th year, and despite tons of success at Wisconsin, he hasn't been able to duplicate that at Arkansas. They're still having winning seasons, but he's another coach on the hotseat.

The point is, if you're not winning big, you're not safe. Not at a major program. And that goes double when you make your coach one of the most highly compensated in the entire sport. It goes triple when you lay down half a billion dollars on a stadium renovation.

I don't know Sumlin. I have nothing against him personally. I don't care about DJs, Swagcopters, and certainly not his race. I care about having success commensurate with our investment, and we're not getting that.

On the contrary, it got him ridiculed as a hayseed who was out of touch.

Hamm is saying we have a huge weekend "If what I'm hearing comes to fruition". Sounds like more than just Hines, and a few current commitments have been sending out #gigemgang17 twitts talking about it heating up.

We made Etienne'a top three along with Oregon and Tennessee. In fact, Etienne said we are back on top because of his relationship with McKinney and he might commit before the dead period begins.

I think his is the biggest misconception among posters on this board. Just because we upgraded a stadium doesn't mean we are outspending the rest of the SECW.

Since this is the recruiting board, this old article talks about just SEC budgets where A&M actually ranks 9th. Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas actually spend more on recruiting.

We all know that Auburn and Ole Miss also spend more though not above board.

Bama has 21 non coaching assistants who play a HUGE role in recruiting. That was one of the primary reasons for bringing Tosh Lupoi onto his staff even though he has multiple run ins with the NCAA.

Sumlin is paid $5M a year, second only to Nick Saban in the SECW, and 7th overall in the entire nation.

John Chavis is paid $1.5M a year. He's the highest paid assistant in the conference and the nation.

Noel Mazzone is scheduled to crack the $1M barrier next year. NO OTHER SCHOOL has two coordinators making $1M plus. None.

So yes, outside of Bama, we are indeed outspending the rest of the SECW. And almost all of CFB, besides.

And LSU spends even less than A&M. But they still out-recruit and outperform us anyway.

And one of the reasons we and LSU can afford to spend less than UT/Auburn/Bama is because we don't have anywhere close to the travel expenses those others do. Same reason UGA and UF also spend less than Arky and Vandy.

The bottom line is that we easily have a national top 5 paid staff, but we're getting nowhere close to that kind of production. We arguably aren't even getting SEC top 5 production.

But if you want to continue this discussion, it really should be part of a separate thread. I don't want to keep cluttering up the recruiting thread.

Sounds like we are not pursuing Stidham

I'm glad Sumlin has the next coaching regime in mind and not this one, not even being sarcastic

Well at least you are convinced that we aren't Bama. That is better than most in this board.

LSU does spend WAY more on athletics than A&M. There was a big discussion about their TOPs program, which nearly bankrupted the state, last year on these boards.
They used these "free" scholarships to get the Teuhema brothers out of TX, according to the Sips (promised scholarships to cousins).

There is also only 1 P5 school in the entire state.
