He's 2017, but since recruiting is a down topic so far in here and there's no 2017 thread made I'll just chime in that 2017 is loaded at running back simular to 2015. JK Dobbins, Eno Benjamin and Carter will/should all be 5-star backs. Carter likes us a lot, and we've made him a priority already but he's a Katrina transplant and there's no denying that he's always been a big LSU fan growing up in NOLA and everything. But he does like us and he's made a couple trips to C-Stat on recruiting events. Everything points LSU here but I don't think Sumlin and crew are going to give up on vying for his services until the dotted line is signed on NSD.

Actually I mind it the least out of all the programs in his top 5 other than us.

Baylor? No, I don't want them to be an actual elite team. I want them to collapse as a program when Briles retires, and that kid is the kind of talent that helps you win a playoff game or more. Screw them turning into the next Miami.

Texas? I think we all agree Charlie flopping like a fish for as long as possible is good for us. We don't play them, but we don't want them to get back on their feet. Bama at most poaches one or two kids we want every year. Texas would poach 10 if they could.

LSU? Either Bama or LSU is going to need to get worse just to give us room to breath in this division. LSU with Les getting long in the tooth and the Steele downgrade is the most likely candidate, and so I don't want them to get a Texas guy that might reverse such a trend or cover Steele's inadequacies. (there is your reason to downvote Mr. Lurker)

Bama currently has the best coach of this era, on a team that is two deep with five stars. When talent goes there it is not even a guarantee they will see the field and harm us. Its also not a guarantee that they will beat us.

To me Bama is the lessor of the evils. Sure I would prefer he go to A&M, and that might still happen, but if we are honest this is the kind of kid who wouldn't have put A&M in his top 15 ten years ago. We need to win a SEC title or something before we can really feel entitled to this sort of Texas talent, and we need to fake it until we make it with the guys who do wear maroon.

It could be worse-think of TCU! They are EASILY the best team in Texas, and probably has the better defensive pedegree out of the two private school twins, and he isn't even sniffing them. Just goes to show the mid-00s Aggie outlook of "just win and everything will work itself out" isn't necessarily true.

I don't mind Baylor or TCU getting kids like this, he has no ties to other recruits that I know of and neither school is going to start pulling top 5 classes anytime soon. Would much rather them than Bama LSU OU or Texas
