On his OV, McCullough told one of our current players he's going to the sips so I think it's a pretty safe prediction
Well that sucks, knew he was really leaning sip but figured we still had a shot with a good OV. Seems weird Sumlin would waste time going for an in house visit Thursday, guess they think they can still sway him.

We've all been critical of the recruiting this year, but this is still a great recruiting class. I cross-referenced the major services (247, Scout, Rivals, and ESPN).
Colton Prater, Braden Mann, Kendrick Rogers, Moses Reynolds, and Ryan McCollum. Those 5 commits are the only recruits that do not have a 4-star or higher rating by one of the major recruiting services.

Christmas-Giles has TCU, LSU, and Texas as his top 3...
so based on the way these kids work nowadays things are probably looking good for A&M.

I'm shocked we didn't even make the top 3. Not that 2nd or 4th makes a difference, but this staff is underachieving on the trail. It seems like Chief is our best recruiter right now.

People make a big deal every year of the guys waiting to announce on signing day. It's as if the players who have been committed for a while don't exist.
Heck, Trayveon Williams (just the kind of all purpose RB we missed this year) is already on campus and people say it's awful since Whaley won't be.
We'll probably get 3 or 4 more players. But just not the 7 or 8 everyone wants.

It's a sham, I'd rather not be in his top 3

I'm up here in Tennessee and can testify that Dodson and Okeke are really good players. I saw Dodson in person. He makes tackles sideline to sideline, the best MLB I witnessed this year up here.
I saw Okeke play on TV. Really athletic, a big hitter. Reminds me of Dunning, he may eventually end up at OLB, instead of Safety.

Chattman taking an OV to college station this weekend "just to make sure he made the right decision."

How are our bagmen feeling this year? I can imagine losing some 'croots could be the result of the shadowy types being pissed at Sumlin.

They're pissed at having to over pay to keep our heads above water.

Wow, the Giles news apparently hit our staff like a brick wall. Was hearing good things about him until tonight.
This is gonna be even worse than I thought. Texas was already expected to have a MONSTER close and that was before it became obvious Giles was also going there.
Bonus: Quartney Davis would be picking Ole Miss if signing day were tomorrow.
At this point, even if Sumlin survives next year he wont have dick for depth going forward. The 2017 class is shaping up to be a DISASTER of late Fran-era proportions.

This is about two things: First and foremost, Sumlin's inept handing of the QB situation and A&M's public image leading up to the dead period. Basically, he did NOTHING to counter the negative PR and then let the recruits sit an mull over that for several weeks without being able to do anything about it. They then all visited Texas and Texas negative recruited the shite out of us.
Second, Texas is throwing around "incentives" like its 1980 again. It's not a coincidence that Red McCombs and a dozen of his closest (richest) friends met with the recruits on their visit and suddenly they all have this plot to go to Texas together.

Texas can have the best finish many of us have ever seen and still not have a top 10 class.
The real issue is we have to have these kids or we're losing ground In the division.

It matters because if we were beating Texas and Baylor and Houston for these guys, we wouldn't be losing ground. A class with McCullough, Cuffee, Jones, Hudson, Cleveland, etc. would be elite.
Instead, we can't real in the top talent in our own state because Sumlin has created an environment where kids would rather go to Waco, an AAC program and a 5-7 BDF program.
If you planted someone with the intention of fricking our program over, I'm not sure they could do as effective of a job as Sumlin has. Getting BOTH QBs to transfer in the same week actually took a lot of effort on his part.
I've truly never seen anything like it. Even Brice and Liucci have said today they honestly can't believe what's happening. I've never a coach who isn't going through a scandal involving possible felonies hit the self-destruct button this hard.

Roger, do you think Sumlin's PR inertness over the last 2 months is related to heat (in various forms) on him behind the scenes? Or is he just being who he is?
Posted on 1/25/16 at 10:51 pm to Roger Klarvin
So at this point we might need warm bodies just to fill a class? Any clue who that might be, anyone not on our radar yet?

If you believe 247, he's straight up lazy. I wouldn't go that far, but he definitely has problems with arrogance and a lack of self-awareness.
Posted on 1/25/16 at 11:46 pm to Roger Klarvin
Well, Coach, we're paying you elite money and doing everything we can to help this program be successful. Are you doing all of the necessary things to give us a chance to be legit in the SEC West? If not, GTFO.
