I haven't really considered him a commit for the last few months

Not surprised, just thought it was interesting that he initiated the contact.

Apparently Daylon gave the LSU coaches a call and is planning on visiting LSU the weekend of May 31.

He's a soft commit at best.

Every time we offer another DT, he initiates a visit elsewhere. Hopefully Kyler will help lock him down some if/when he commits.

I hope so too but I'm not going to expect it. I feel like it might settle him down for a few months but by august he will be back doing this again. I hope we sign him but following his recruitment makes me hate following recruiting

I think the only thing that "locks" him down is a 9+ win season.

I hate it but for whatever reason it seems like the A&M shine has worn off Daylon. Taking all A&M references off his twitter page was bad news. Staff needs to do SOMETHING to restore that shine.

Without a spring game it was tough for us to maintain momentum during this offseason period.

Unlike last year how we do on the field really matters. 8+ wins and we have easily a top 5 class, maybe top 3.

He has to be the one to make the contact at this point in the recruiting calendar. Coaches can't call them. They can visit their school and talk that way but not via phone

That is really killing us right now. The offseason is a real dead period already, but when you don't have your biggest recruiting tool, it leaves you scrambling

We really need to figure out an alternative to generate some buzz next offseason IMO

i think we all need to understand that daylon is no longer committed to a&m. you don't do what he is doing if you are. bringing in kyler should help

The problem is the offsite rules for recruiting.

Maybe we can live stream the game from Reliant for recruits and rape the spirit of the rules as we adhere to the letter via technology.

Does Kyler have a timeline to commit?

Not at this time. Hopefully sometime this month but he may visit Auburn first.

Sooner than the sites are saying (at least publicly). It wouldn't shock me if it were today but my guess is within a week or so.

But that's based on a conversation as of last week so as always YMMV

The Mack thing is just going to be contingent on our season, defensively. I don't want him to, because he's awesome, but part of me wishes he would decommit now that he's looking at like 2-3 other programs because it's turning into a soap opera with a different storyline every week. This week it's Auburn, next it's Ohio State, then LSU, blah blah blah...and that he's so public about it. It's like geeez, man really?

But the Kyler commitment is going to be the glue that holds all this together, imo. If he shocks everyone and goes elsewhere, it would be a miracle to field and maintain a top 5-10 class for'15. Not saying Sumlin and company couldn't do it but we're going to have to have a hell of a season to back it up.

Kyler being 2-time back-to-back state champ going on a third....everybody wants to be in his camp simply because they know to be the best, you got to beat the best, and he's done that. Makes everyone's job easier and they feel more comfortable and confident. So once he's onboard, people gonna line up and punch their tickets to get onboard as well.

I hope Kyler commits soon and doesn't wait until say whichever all-star game he will be playing in.

You would imagine that Mariota is going to have another strong year at Oregon, and with recruits these days, it's all about recent momentum. Oregon always has that offensive allure but you don't want them with momentum also. Same could be said about Auburn now

This class is contingent on two things:

1. When Kyler decides (like how Dead Money put it)
2. How we finish this season

If Kyler waits and we struggle out the gates, that's a recipe for disaster. Again this is where not having that spring game hurts us

Kyler isn't going to wait. He himself said hell commit after the baseball playoffs and like tmc said, could even be earlier

That's good and I'm about 95% sure that means good news for us. Everything I was hearing over here has died down with him, so unless it's staying more in-house we should get good news

Do I need to get out my damn checkbook and settle things down?

I know I've got at least 4 bucks.
