Nothing too earth shattering but an interview with AZ WR Christian Kirk. Hadn't noticed before or maybe I forgot but it appears Kirk will be an early enrollee.

Also of note, I didn't think he tested (he's not in the database) but the Opening invite summary from LANFTC has this:
quote:

Kirk impressed on the field as well as in testing, where the 5-11, 197 lber had a 4.54 40, 4.37 shuttle, 40.5? vert and 37' Powerball for a 116.58 SPARQ Rating.

quote:

Kirk's numbers from last year's Opening:
5-10 185, 4.49 (40) 4.15 (shuttle) 36.3 (vert) 115.83 (SPARQ)

Recruits don't care about conference affiliation, ya hear?

Marble Falls TE/OL Tanner Shipley ladies and gentlemen. Cousin of Jordan and Jaxson.
quote:

“Coach [Joe] Wickline offered me last week,” said Shipley. “Honestly it doesn’t really matter though because I won’t go there. I won’t even visit. I’ve been there a thousand times since I’ve been eight years old.”

“I want to play big time ball in the SEC,” he added. “I want to help LSU win the national championship.”

Good lord

meh, they can have this guy. We were never going to offer. He's a big blocking TE who may grow into an OL.

From a direct recruiting standpoint, this is completely irrelevant to our interests imo but the fact that an Austin area legacy is pointing to wanting to play in the SEC over the horns is pretty meaningful in the overall landscape.

Truth. And the hilarity of that thread is that, even though anointed offensive messiah Joe Wickline offered Shipley, presumably because he thought he could play, several of the horn posters have begun the "didn't want him, he sucks anyway" shtick.

This is why we're hearing Strong talk about playing us again. The UTx coaching staff is finding out first hand what the UTx fanbase can't bear to admit: that the B12 is an anchor around their necks, while the SEC is a rocketpack on the back of every member school (but especially us, LSU, and Bama).
