Exactly. And the majority of those guys don't pan out in college. There's a reason that Johnny was a 3-star recruit in high school. Tons of coaches weren't sure if it could translate. I'm going to drop it because only time will tell. And like I said earlier, I really hope to be proven wrong. I have felt this way about Kyler for a long time.

'm very happy with this class now. Would NOT trade it for tu's.

I know people are disappointed, particularly w/ the way we couldn't land any CBs late, but Mack was the big one. He's a difference maker like no other on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm pumped to have Mack, but it will be interesting to see Chavis without elite corners in year 1. He's not used to that. But he's also not used to having an offense that scores points.

I loved Mack's tie with the maroon stripes. In fact, I loved his entire outfit and color combination. That vest was money.

we just need to clean up on the three elite safeties in the next cycle

He's going to work on his craft and get better. It's silly to think that b/c some throws wouldn't work in college that he can't adjust.
Never mind that you could say the majority of all players don't pan out. Stars don't mean shite once you get on the field.

So... are we getting this wildcard / mystery recruit from the west coast or what?

my only mild gripe is that we weren't able to get that "gotcha" flip at the last minute.
If that's my gripe, we are looking pretty good.

His #1 CB on his board at LSU was Roney Elam

Don't get me wrong. I'm beyond thrilled with mack and murray, but we end up behind ut in the rankings and drop from 2nd in the nation to what 13th or so? Outside of the top 10 in what had the potential to be one of the top recruiting classes in school history? Not to mention we finish 3rd or 4th in the west with this class? All the while shitting the bed with cb's. It's a nice class. That's about it. My main hope is that Sumlin has the coaches on staff to coach these kids up.

Yup. A lot of projecting that is impossible to know for sure.
But Aggies have known to be biased. I had similar arguments with many friends about Manziel as a pro prospect.

Gee, where did he sign?

Everybody wants to lament the cornerback fish that got away. But it bears mentioning that we did sign two CBs, Elam and Capers-Smith. Let's just see what Chief can do with that duo, combined with who is already on campus.

quote:I don't see why anyone should be "thrilled" about not losing and/or recovering commitments that were in the bag two months ago. Maybe "relieved," but even with Chavis in the fold the end of this recruiting cycle has been a flop by Sumlin standards. We basically recovered two guys we lost (Mack and Moore), flipped a 3* from the Sun Belt, and didn't lose Murray. Whoop?
