They've apparently convinced themselves this is 100% happening. I'm not saying it will or won't, but if our heads are in the sand then theirs are in the sky.

If it happens it happens, Kyle is a great QB so we will be ok. The fact that they are gonna get KM killed with that abysmal oline is just a shame is all. You can't play BB or FB with broken bones and concussions.

I think KM will succeed wherever he goes. Now I think he'll obviously have quicker and more success surrounded by an offensive coach, a good OL, and a good corps of WRs.

Yeah, we couldn't put texas down much longer if they do steal Murray, and Mack. Jefferson is a already there. Their o-line sucks but it's the big 12. Murray is still good enough to make plays and Mack is going to require double teams even as a freshman because big 12 o-lines are pretty meh except for Oklahoma maybe. TCU maybe. That dumpster fire of a league concedes 3-4 wins to them because they rival mountain west programs basically. I'm not going to melt...I'll be disappointed big time but I'm not going to melt. We have good talent on both sides of the ball regardless. Sumlin made some key coaching changes that should payoff. All he has to do is win...no more we are young excuses. He can't have any more 59-0's. It has to be competitive here on out. We lose, fine... but not much room to place blame on a young team anymore or he is going to find himself locked in dogfights with Texas, no matter what if they pull off our 3 most coveted targets this class.

LINK Burton actually has a pretty down-to-earth assessment from the tu side.

Pay wall, I read it on SB though and it sounded reasonable. The sips were, of course, pissed because it didn't tell them everything is awesome.

Ah, sorry. Didn't realize.

Of course Mack is going to Austin. Mack, Murray, and Lodge are going to the same school. And others will follow.
If this happens, then the gloves have to come off. Alumni and Athletic Admin have to do a better job spending/cheating/recruiting/staffing/PR/coaching/winning etc to overcome. This decade long period of them stuck in the shithole big 12 and us in the premier conference is literally the only chance in the 100 year plus history to overtake them for a long period of time. When they are down you have to stand on their neck and break that shite.

It's not going to be a problem. I fairly confident going for their neck is exactly what they are doing.
Sumlin has proven time and time again to be very in tune and savvy about what's going on.
To me Kyler the leader of your class escorting one of your main targets is a plus, and potentially punk them out of their own QB commit? The drama lingering to NSD keeps the spotlight on our program, and gives him an opportunity for a big moment.
Sumlin is the master of capturing an audience.

But here’s what Horns247 knows to be true after speaking with those close to the situation.
1. I'm told college baseball has almost nothing to do with Kyler Murray's decision. If Murray goes to college, it's for football. He could perhaps do what Russell Wilson and Ricky Williams did and play pro baseball in the summer.
But to assume he'd play baseball at Texas, or that that idea that it is even a mitigating factor, overvalues that part of the equation for him.
Baseball is potentially very important to Kyler Murray. But "college" baseball isn't.
2. I've been told there is no press announcement scheduled for next week.
In fact, I've been told there have not been any internal discussions of a press announcement for next week by the Murrays.
3. I've also been told that there are no home visits scheduled by head coaches at this time for next week for either the Texas or Texas A&M staff.
The visits could be scheduled in the coming hours and days. But they have not been yet.
4. By now, it's a generally accepted line of thinking that this was no courtesy visit to for Murray. That is correct.
5. So where do things stand?
As of this morning, Kyler has not made a final decision. To presume he's leaning one way or the other, or has already decided, is premature, I'm told.
This recruitment is best described as "ongoing".
Somewhere, the guy who ran the Warren Commission is thinking to himself, I've seen this kind of hysteria before.

Not necessarily.
You have to give them just enough hope to keep them on their current course thinking it could still work.

Ryan Newsome just committed to UCLA
Posted on 1/23/15 at 3:35 pm to Nguyening
Just saw that. And the sips all said his decision would indicate where Kyler was leaning

Sip - scared of the depth chart with Lodge on board

Wow. Perroni said Newsome informed the schools this morning that he was tu bound. Then had second thoughts and considered postponing. And then announced for UCLA. Sounds a little like Bussey.
