WTF is Looch talking about?

quote:

Things got complicated today and the Aggies will have to play this thing very carefully over the next few days. They can't sit back and let things progress between Kevin, Kyler, Damarkus and the Horns but also need to keep cool in the face of adversity or they'll risk pushing away two gifted football players who are still much more likely to end up in Maroon and White than Burnt Orange.

Things got complicated today?? How did we go from trolling / they're solid to things got complicated?

so.... do we really need to start worrying about Kyler?

I can handle if he flips to somewhere like Oregon but if he goes to the sips....

he says he is

In other news...

I Appreciate the offer from #OU But offering me after I committed is too late I'm shutting my recruiting down! Im a #Aggie For Life! #Gigem

I don't mean to laugh but this is a guy that has been committed to 3 schools but he's decided OU is too late because it came "after I committed"

Awolope cancelled his visit to UTx, but will still visit us this weekend. A&M/TCU battle.

This actually speaks volumes, given how many OL we already have committed or on campus, vs. how desperate the horns are for quality OL.

I'm not but I'm not Kevin Sumlin. I trust that we'll never hear a peep about it.

argh

the waiting sucks.

i can usually stay pretty calm about recruits but Kyler is different b/c of his lineage and just how damn good he was at Allen.

If he wasn't a legacy and hadn't played so close to where I live I don't think I'd care so much.

What really sucks is that it's pretty clear he is being promised he can start as a fish and A&M flat out can't do that with the way Kyle Allen played last year.

Start as a fish with no WR, no OL, and no DEF. Thanks but no thanks. I wouldn't worry RC. They don't stand a chance.

I don't know Kyler from Adam, and I'm not one to deny the appeal Austin and the history of UTx has for that program, but I can't think of a good reason Kyler would have not only committed to us as early as he did, but then go full-throttle recruiting for us with other big-time targets, only to suddenly switch to UTx at nearly the last minute.

I might have understood it if we had lost Spavital, and replaced him w/ someone Kyler didn't like.

I might have understood it if Sumlin had screwed up the DC hire by bringing in a no-name insurance salesmen who had retired from coaching, and that having led to a huge exodus of commits from our class.

But what could have changed to make Kyler favor the burnt orange? Malik's commitment? No, that was a passing wave that was soon eclipsed by the hiring of Chavis.

I think the most likely explanations are this is either a massive troll/attention grabbing move, or this was a courtesy visit as a favor to Calvin Murray.

The horns are loving this visit right now, but the risk to them is it is looking like all the attention this visit is drawing is alienating Gentry, their lone QB commit. If he flips to Michigan, and Kyler sticks with us, they are SOL under center for this class.

Don't see how tu could promise him he would start as a fish, they still have the #1 rated DT QB from 2014 on the roster and the #8 rated PP QB for 2015 already committed.

I wouldn't say they have no defense when they were 32nd in scoring D while playing in the Big 12 with a shitty offense.

I'm hoping that I'm having nothing more than a small BAS outbreak

50 in scoring D
65 in total D

Not great, but not terrible like ours. I don't expect the continued improvement with the lack of talent at DL.

where did you get your numbers?

I got the scoring D rank from ESPN LINK

I'd love to be incorrect on this one though.

They have a ton of starting defenders graduating or heading to the draft early, like DT Malcom Brown, and are RAZOR thin on the DL. They got completely shut out two years ago on the DL, last year they only signed two DTs, neither of which are stars, and this year Lampkin, their lone DT commit, is both a grade risk and looks like he will flip to the Sooners.

In short, they're taking a huge hit in experience and ability on the defensive side of the ball. If Strong keeps them in the upper half of CFB in scoring D, he'll have done a great job.

From shaggy:

quote:

I would put all my chips on Murray already giving Strong a silent commit, in the presence of his dad. Keep it on the down low until NSD so that they don't have to deal with the backlash from aggy. No way this would be revealed by anyone out of respect for the Murrays. Let the good times roll, Charlie's got this.

quote:

KM told Strong he will commit
Strong notified Gentry
Gentry decided to take a look at UM
Thats my story and im sticking to it.

quote:

I'll make my call...

NSD TEXAS

1. Zach Gentry QB - TEXAS
2. Kyler Murray QB – TEXAS
4. Soso Jamabo RB - TEXAS
5. Chris Warren RB - TEXAS
8. Damarkus Lodge WR – TEXAS
17. Daylon Mack DL – TEXAS
27. Kris Boyd DB - TEXAS
28. Holton Hill DB – TEXAS
