It was initially said he was dismissed for an "internal team issue" LINK

depending on the reason, that could be very good news. LSU also offered him so Chavis definitely is familiar with him. It's a year off but could really help our pipeline issues, especially if we can't close on a MLB this year.

yeah Young was a big miss for sure

was thinking...if Whitley was kicked off the team but wasn't arrested or anything, this might meet the definition of the run-off rule - meaning it's possible he's immediately eligible. The runoff rule is in place so teams don't "cut" guys and them have to sit but it can be very hard to decipher where that line is.

It's why OU actually thought they could get DGB eligible since he was booted from Mizzou. But he had had multiple arrests and it's hard to hide that. If Whitley just had a run-in with a coach or teammate, that probably meets the NCAA's definition.

I think we are going to end up with Mack, Lodge and Boyd.

I hope you're right! Those would be three nice ones to close with. I still want a stud LB or two added to the list, but it sounds like Sumlin and Chavis have some targets in mind.

This class may not have gone as we had hoped in regard to MJ/KS, but it's still looking pretty stellar and we're adding Chavis! We would have killed for a class like this a few years back, but as well all know, the bar has been raised and expectations are much higher.

Can't wait to see how the closer closes and the next month unfolds!

Are we expected to add any more running backs? With t. Williams going pro surely that's a need?

Still recruiting Bussey and Anderson. Would be nice to flip one.

Rank in order our top 4 positions of need for closing out this class.

1) CB
2) RB
3) DL
4) LB

Cornerback - I would love to close out with PJ Mbanasor and Boyd. Not sure how realistic that is though. Also hope we can engage with Justin Martin.

Running back - hopefully with a new OL coach and instability at OU, Rodney Anderson would take a look at us.

DL - I think Mack is going to recommit to us. Also wouldn't mind taking Moton

LB - Leo Lewis please

Y'alls thoughts?

Linebacker #1 need.

I understand we lose Everett, but I still think Linebackers need the most help. We all saw what one injury did to our defense.

ordered how I see it as far as need

this is my run away number one priority. I don't think we'll get in on Mbanasor. He just doesn't want to stay in state. He didn't give us a sniff before and I doubt that changes. I'd look to Boyd, Black, or Lewis.

Maybe we get sneaky and flip someone but this is the point Joseph has to earn his keep. He went and found Wilson last year, it's time to do that again. There are an awful lot of under the radar types.

well, yeah, but if not, you have to look at other guys. Hopefully Chavis has some leads. We do have bodies but am not comfortable with the middle pipeline. Same deal as with Joseph. It doesn't have to be a National top 100 guy. We just need to find guys to develop.

I heart Anderson but until the staff is announced I don't think he's going to listen. He had a falling out with us.

We need a RB besides Bradford but honestly if we miss it won't be the end of the world. We'll have 4 there next year and in a pinch we could move Sezer or something. I actually would probably move him anyway if he can't get in the 2-deep in the spring

Feel good about Mack. Kyler has guaranteed him. We'll see how much sway he has. Moton is a take if he's going to qualify. I've heard he got good news on that front but I don't think he's all the way there yet

I think our DL is fine tbh and if we got no one this year we'd be okay. The young guys are growing up and they'll take hold. And honestly we only have 2 SRs next year so it's not like we will be desperate.

I disagree about LB being #1. We already have 4 commits and I think Alaka, Washington, & AJ can be a good group for the next few years.

Mack is more about perception than need. He's elite and would be the cherry on top of an already loaded DL

Agree about RB and Sezer. That class of DB's hasn't made any noise and we should move on from them and at least try for some sort of production from them. Also Quiv Gonzalez could be used in the Trey Williams role at RB

It's the back 7 on defense that needs a ton of help. Even just bodies for competition. Hell, fill the rest of the damn class up with DB and LB

Add Walker in there as well. The group isn't super deep, but I think the starters have potential.

CB and RB scare me

Completely different types of players. Trey was super quick, but not elite speed. Quiv is fast, but has no lateral movement.

I don't think any of our DTs are game-changers on the level of Mack, or really even close to it. MLB and CB may be higher priorities generally from a need standpoint (think we'd be fine at OLB if we had a couple true MLB, and the S position looks good), but Mack would upgrade the defense more than any player left on the board.

I agree that I'd be OK not taking another RB.

I think White/Bradford and 2 RB recruits next class would be fine.
