The only way I wont flip out over these last few weeks is if sumlin hires bud Foster. That is the only move that will appease me.
No fricking happening.

Yup. Any less and we might as well start calculating Summy's 2016 buyout.

Stone me, but I still want the DC hire to be right rather than rushed to grab any recruit. If we grab a few other defensive parts and Bud Foster, I'll still be like a little kid in a candy store. This DC hire will make or break Sumlin. Not a single recruit. I'm not counting McNeal. We're good enough at WR. LB is where we have needs.....but that need isn't as great as our "solid DC" need.......If Sumlin really is willing to lose recruits to nab Bud Foster, I'd take it in a heartbeat....

Bud Foster has all but been written off the list. We'll make some mediocre hire, probably lose Daylon, not sign Sheffield, and go back to where we started. The last 3 weeks were going to define the direction of our program, and it didn't disappoint. fricking empty

Jefferson has said this decision is final and he won't flip from whomever he picks. I believe him. He's that kind of kid. Says what he means. And his family would be devastated. Not gonna flip.

And if we end up with a DC hire that we could get today then someone should be fired.

I'm not sure there is a real DC "list." Every list that been out there has been wadded up and thrown away. All the pay sites have been wrong. I'm not sure anyone other than Sumlin really knows where it stands.

Except that Foster isn't happening. We're going to be without a good DC OR good recruits. Foster is going to hang Sumlin out to dry just like Muschamp. Then we'll go with a meh hire and have lost the recruits in the process. It's fricking stupid and I think I am going to be sick.

I don't think sumlin knows where it stands

Yeah his family doesn't like us that much right? I don't think we flip him but wish we could

So how close are we to the whole "basketball program" thing working out in 2016?

This. Some people need perspective here but you're not going to see it today. We can have a great defense with or without Malik Jefferson. DC hire is exponentially more important

Sumlin is a master recruiter. If he "could have the hire today," I'm sure he would have done so. I've got a lot of concerns on Sumlin (defense, player development, etc.). How highly he values recruits and closes on them isn't one of them. If he didn't close on Jefferson, that tells me he's not willing to compromise the DC search for a single 18-year old.

This was the 1999 class Slocum bad. Our brilliant closer just lost his #1 target to a coach who can barely speak English

Or it means he's so stubborn that he's not willing to bend on his offense for a quality DC.

But what if the situation changes. What if tu loses their DC to CSU? What if A&M makes an exciting hire at DC? To me its not a smart move to ignore those facts. Just like our OL should reevaluate since their position coach was fired.

I know I know the melt is going on but what does this mean for Daylon Mack?

Jesus Christ man. What are you trying to accomplish?

That's a big question right now. At least Jefferson didn't pick LSU....that would have been much more damaging on Mack. Mack isn't going to Texas. I think ultimately we didn't reinforce Mack here; but we didn't lose anything. He's still a wildcard. And thanks for keeping us updated! You were faster than twitter!
