He also tried really hard to make sure it was known he didnt influence Kyler's decision.

I believe him 100% with that after being around him a couple times

He didnt even react on camera when the decision was made, but apparently him and the Allen OC who is an Aggie were yucking it up behind the scenes after the cameras were off. He's secretly really hyped about it, but he doesnt want to be one of those dad's who takes the spotlight away from his kid.

so, ventured over to shag. is there a story behind why they call Sumlin.."Rumlin". Not that I really care or that their butthurt rationale these days amounts to the sweat under my ballsack, but just curious.

From TA:

quote:

It was started on the shag by a Notre Dame alum, no less, who claimed that he was at a nightclub in Houston and saw KDS there all alone and hammered. He referred to a photo of Sumlin at a bar that someone had posted, and claimed that KDS had rudely asked them not to take his picture. Then the psychotic group-think took over, and the term "Rumlin" was born.

Just popping over to say you guys got a really good one in Kyler. He is so polished, and I cannot wait to see him play in Sumlin's O. What ATM has done in recruiting as a whole has been incredible. The QB's they have signed is even more impressive. Congrats Aggies!

As crazy as this seems, aggs are like the Baylor of the SEC, they have solid offensive players but who will play defense? Last i check, defense wins championship, otherwise they would have won 2 national championships with manziel right. If they get this kid and lodge and Strickland and all the other best WR in the state, they will still get beat in the SEC. They are a mid level team and it will remain that way. Until they play defense which we all know they don't, they will not win anything. One thing i know is that My horns will play serious D next year, so I'm not too worried

Yea they aren't taking this well

They sure like to play with D...a lot.

I don't think A&M ever allowed almost 300 rushing yards to a white QB in a knee brace though.

This year we signed fourteen 4- and 5-star recruits, nine of whom will play defense (2 DTs, 3 DEs, 2 OLB, 2 DBs). That is nearly an entire starting defense of 4- and 5-stars in ONE CLASS.

Next year, we have committed or are the heavy favorites to sign the best DT, OLB and CB in the state (all 5-stars) along with two 4-star safeties and two 4-star corners. We could have one of the best defensive classes in the country.

This "Sumlin cant recruit defense" shite has to stop.

I imagine aggy will also be following Murray's potential opportunity to sign a first round contract with MLB and forego attending college. His uncle Calvin was a first round pick and spent seven years in the big leagues.

I would venture Calvin made a $#@!load more money at baseball than Kevin did playing in the CFL. If Kyler is as good at baseball as has been reported, he may want to take his chances in MLB rather than chasing being Johnny Freefall 2.0.

He is a little mad, but he does have a point. Kyler is raking this year in baseball, and if he does come to A&M, he will definitely play both sports if allowed to

Someone is going to have to offer him way over slot to get him to go pro. And teams don't typically do that for HS middle infielders. I would be shocked if he goes straight to pro ball. I've seen Kendall Rogers say he would be shocked if it happened on 247.

The more likely scenario would be if he tears it up for us on the diamond and we only get a year tops out of him as starting QB

Thankfully, they never wanted Silverand...

would you trade kemah siverand for carlos strickland straight up?

They're different kinds of WR so it's hard to really say looking at it as Siverand for Strickland as a single trade but based on what we've got on campus from the 2013 and 2014 classes (along with the depth chart from Louisville's last 2 seasons) I'd go with Strickland right now. Esp. if you assume that Newsome will likely join this 2015 class. Leaving the Burt talk off the table if it's Strickland/Newsome or Siverand/Newsome - I'd go Strickland.

Isn't he still likely LSU bound?

Strickland I mean. I don't understand why they keep playing this game with recruits they won't even be getting. They're clearly novices at it.

Murray said yesterday he planned to play both sports at A&M. But Kenny Hill also said the same. We'll see.

But if he's our starting QB but gets drafted out of college, he'd almost certainly play both. I believe Russell Wilson was playing minor league baseball while at NCST and Wisky after being a 4th round pick after his 3rd year in college. He's the best comp because he did so because he worried about his NFL future due to size.

Only way I see him picking baseball at that point is if he wasn't the projected starter when he gets drafted.

I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure he's a grade risk. We've never offered him at the least so it's clear which one our coaches prefer.
