Oh, I know. Just stating in this class, we'll have plenty. I don't agree with taking another sub 6 ft guy when we should still add to the defensive side of the ball, and on Oline. Throw in the fact that we're high on the lists of several of the elite wrs in next year's class and it just doesn't make sense to me.
I know we haven't been in this situation in a good while, but I'd hate to add another wr and it cause some shakeup of the existing wrs in this class due to "playing time" pitches.
Let's hypoethtically state Griffin gets in. Let's also state RSJ actually chooses us. Griffin, RSJ, Quiv, Quincy, Parker, Samples AND Luper? Now if Griffin isn't going to get in for sure, and if RSJ chooses to go to school elsewhere, then I can see it. Problem is, I think Luper chooses before we know the end results for RSJ and Griffin.
Tough problem to have. lol

4-3 under. It'll play as a 4-3 but can also look like a 3-4.
31 or 28 schollys. I've just got to trust the coaches as I don't understand under SEC rules we could get 31 in. Yes, 3 will apply to last year. I guess 3 could be mid-terms, then 25 more for this year. Not completely sure though.

I don't understand the scholarship thing either and I've yet to see a clear explanation of it. With the way we're rolling right now though being able to get 31 would be huge.

How many current spots do you have open on your team from the 85 limit? How many kids do you have graduating/plan on leaving early for the draft? How many kids EE this past year?
That will tell you how many you can take. The SEC rule states 25, but you can still back count your EE's. Not sure if that makes sense, but hope it helps.

We'll have room for 31 in comparison to the 85, I think most Ags are simply confused on why there is a 25 signee rule in place if you can skirt around it.
I know last year we intentionally didn't fill all of it in order to make this class larger. I know only 3 can count towards mid-term, but I do not know how many can count towards last year's class within the guidelines of the SEC.

Y'all must have a ton of SRs this year.
The 25 rule confuses me as well.

The 25 on signing day part is easy. It's plain and simple. The EE/backcounting part is where it gets confusing. Is it based purely on the 85(EEs are)? Does the previous year number still factor into backcounting? Can kids be backcounted if you have room under 85 but not in the previous class? UGA is planning on 30 + so some combination of all this is accepted. Which parts, I have no clue. LSU has spots available but no one seems to know exactly how many we can take. I'm just letting the numbers play out and add them when it's all signed.
Congrats on Claiborne. Very good LB.

Does anyone here know the rules on partial qualifiers?
In the Big 12, they were not allowed at all, much to the dismay of Nebraska (one reason they fell so hard). I thought I had heard that partials were allowed in the SEC. Not allowed to play until fully qualified, but were allowed to take up the scholly and join the team (can't play in games).
Anyone have any insight you can help us SECnewbies understand this in the SEC?

if it's soley based on 25 per year then we can have up to 6 EE's , since we took 19 last year. right?

Not sure since last year you weren't in the SEC.
So assuming y'all sign 31 do u figure to have that many players leave your program over the next year?

Isn't Abbington close with a few current commits? Parker and Garner I think

Currently, we have the following scholarship players (including those expected this fall: Ray not expected to qualify now)
16 Seniors: Michael, Lamothe, Swope, Nwachukwu, Jackson, McNeal, Lewis, Nealy, Mathis, Russell, Porter, J. Stewart, Du. Harris, Terrell, Campbell, Epperson
18 Juniors: Malena, Askew, D. Walker, Hicks, Prioleau, L. Joeckel, J. Matthews, Klinke, Moore, Ennis, Scales, I. Robinson, Jenkins, Patterson, Hurd, Jacobs, Franklin, Gardiner
21 Sophomores: Showers, M. Joeckel, B. Williams, Carson (Oregon transfer), Randolph, Kennedy, L. Williams, Harrison, Ogbuehi, Gramling, Compton, Stansbury, Alexander, Baggs, Ward, Tyrell Taylor, Everett, Raven, Honeycutt, H. Matthews, Kaser
20 Freshmen: Manziel, Davis, T. Williams, T. Johnson, Holmes, Cheek, Gutekunst, Tipoti, Ifedi, M. Matthews, A. Williams, Obioha, Hatten, M. Richardson, Manukainu, Richmond, Tyrone Taylor, De. Harris, Pope, Marshall
That's 75 current scholarship players.
If you assume none of the seniors will require medical redshirts, that leaves 59. At least 2 of the redshirt juniors will not return, so that leaves 57. Simple math dictates that 85-57 = 28. At least one of the four quarterbacks will not remain on campus next fall, so that's 29 available. At least 3-4 will have career ending injuries.

Guessing the staff likes Abbington more than Washington?
Posted on 7/4/12 at 2:31 pm to A&M's Slush Fund
The simple fact is that as long as we have 6 early guys, we can count six back to last class.
Making the 85 man limit work should work itself out as CGSC just explained.
I would hope the staff likes Abbington more. He is a better saftey prospect and Washington will more than likely end up at OLB. Plus one our current safety commits is a grade risk (Davis I believe).

I do not remember his name, and I'm lazy, but I sure wish we would have gotten in on the Safety from D/FW that's headed to Tennessee.
I got over my laziness. Kameron Miles.

Interesting. They took a S last year from Texas also in LaDarrell McNeil.

I was with you until here. Damn that would be some pretty terrible luck. I could see 2 QBs possibly leaving as well.

Its actually not all that crazy, its just the way it was stated.
Charlie Thomas just hung up his cleats for good due to injuries. Its not like he had some grotesque career ending injury on the field, but he is gone due to injury.
Brandon Jackson last year. Lingering injuries are a big part of attrition.
