This year has some similarities to 2012
Freshman Quarterback
Lost 1st game
Lost at home in October
...
Won out after that?
Went to the Cotton Bowl?
11-2 final record?
Who knows?

Lose to Bama but beat LSU?

If someone goes 11-2 after losing his QB in the first game and playing a team full of freshman, he will have earned three years total guaranteed
I wouldn't have a problem with that

This shite right here is why the cycle of aggy misery will never end.
One decent season where we won't win anything important and you're ready to deal with three more years of bullshite losses.

should just call ourselves the msu bulldogs or the ole miss rebels.
"we get one solid season every 5 years! woo-hoo!!!"

This year also has similarities to 2005.
Lost 1st game due to stupid clock and game management late
Barely beat 3 mediocre teams at home
Worst pass defense in the country
Started the season 5-2
Moral victory over the eventual conference champion (despite loss at home)
Mississippi State could be Sumlin's 2005 Iowa State.

You realize he's already guaranteed two more years right?
I'm only talking about adding one year as a reward for going 11–2
If we didn't give him something 1. If he repeated that success the next year or even close to it he would leave us behind 2. Any future agent of any future coach that we wanted would bend us over because they could not trust us

You see that bold word right there, that is the problem.
I have a job, I have goals I'm expected to meet or exceed. If I don't meet those goals I don't have a job, its very simple. No guarantee.
Why is our coach allowed to perform so poorly and keep his job?
What incentive does he have to do better when he gets paid the same either way?

So you don't see the problem with not giving him 1 year for going 11-2? The espn's would crucify us if we left him twisting after 11-2. Every agent of anyone we were interested in would know they could bend us over

Take a deep breath. Now, slowly step away from the kool-aid. I'll pour it down the drain and we'll be done with this crazy talk.

I see the problem with giving him a GUARANTEED extension since our decision makers don't know how to use the word "contract" without the word "guaranteed" in front of it.

Re "guaranteed": are we unique in this regard?

Show me another program whose coach is paid his severance in full within 60 days of being fired.
