Corps bloc was necessitated by the post-game events vs. tu in '95. Had to make it easier for ct's and bq's to get to the field and assault anyone violating the sacred memorial that Kyle field is.
No, Corps Block (Corps Bloc is a voting bloc for yell leader elections) was started to prevent cadets from leaving the pass and review, then going to the game in civilian clothes. I know because it started my freshman year.

yea, its basically for Corps recruiting and keeping an eye on the cadets.
I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it if the TV cameras didn't almost exclusively focus on them for crowd shots.
However, if they showed more representative crowd shots I would still dislike it.
IMO it helps drive a wedge between the Corps and the other students. I think they should interact with each other as much as possible and that can't happen when they get their own section of seating.

Wow. I can't imagine anybody trying to do that. The chances of being seen by somebody you don't want seeing you are... what... at least 90%, right?
TBird is of course welcome to his wrong opinion, but I enjoyed sitting among civilians. For the most part that's about the only interaction we had all year other than intramurals (and that only happened if our company won the Corps championship).

I have a PMC guy staying with me this weekend. I'll quiz him about it but I already know the answer. There's no way he'd change clothes because he was too busy going back to the dorm and flooding the seniors' rooms.

Remember that I was class of '00. Things changed since you last marched Final Review.

This is false, honestly. Of course the Corps crowd shots stick out more in your memory, but it's hardly exclusive.

It's a football game. 4-5 hours tops. Plenty of other opportunities to interact with the other students, and it's highly encouraged these days (much moreso than in years past). I know I got plenty of interaction with non-reg students outside of Kyle Field. Doesn't drive a wedge between the Corps and non-regs at all, IMO.

I'm part of the Perfect Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2010, and therefore am never wrong
Like I said before, it's only for a football game, and honestly most outfits highly discourage cadets from being Corps "hermits." You could get in trouble in my outfit for NOT mingling with nonregs regularly. Pursuit of membership and leadership in nonreg organizations across campus was par for the course when I was there, and has only become more important.
Corps block really just isn't as big a detrimental deal as y'all are making it out to be. I stand by that 100%.

I agree. Even if you allowed the Corps to pull tickets like everyone else the cameras would still find the cadets that didn't go change or focus on the band so it really doesn't matter.

Yeah, I know. thought I was obviously joking about the '95 t.u. melee.
Personally, I think there are positives to having ct's mixed in with their nonreg classmates. If they want to stand together, they should pull together like everybody else.

Of all the non-issues we Ags like to bitch about, this one's up there as one of the worst, IMO.
