Reading between the lines of all this Gus Malzahn contract amendment talk, it sounds like Auburn either doesn't want Chip Lindsey to leave or don't want to give Malzahn the power to hire Hugh Freeze. Certainly doesn't sound like a constructive environment down at Auburn right now

I would be ok with Lindsey but I wouldn't think of the hire as a home run.

Agree with all of this and the order of your list. All 3 scenarios would be big upgrades over Helton imo.
