Dinnae think the reds give a rat's arse about Kelly. If he's scaring anyone then it's a billionaire boosters (*cough* Big Jim *cough*) who don't want someone who'd be listened to more than them.

Kelly has NCAA baggage, that's a big deal for the old money boosters.

As much as I love Kelly, and want him, I fear this is true. Wouldn't be that big of a deal if not for Dickbag Donnie.

Thanks a lot frickstick Dave Shart.

But Dave told us he had "years of expertise you can't measure" when it came to evaluating coaching hires

frick it, I'm at the point where I'd be willing to take a couple years of NCAA punishment just to have 5 years of national relevancy again. And that's just assuming we are dumb enough like Ole Miss to get caught. Just win baby win.

It's just asinine to me that literally one of the most qualified college football coaches in the industry is just sitting there waiting for a job, and we might not even talk to him?

I care more about the university/academic side than most fans but the idea that Kelly's NCAA problems are a bar just shows ignorance on the part of the boosters who'd object to it. Then again, I doubt they do the research fans like us do. Plenty of other reasons to raise concerns (not disqualifies but concerns) on Kelly.

To answer your first question tho... The more I evaluate and learn about Frost, the more I think he's a better hire than Kelly. He's certainly about the only non-name coach that can be considered a home run, imo. He's got the same sort of offensive innovation Kelly had at Oregon (even called plays under Kelly there), has proven he can not only do it on his own but do it at a small school, and has a metric ton of upside.

He's hungry to make his mark whereas a lot of older name coaches just aren't nearly as driven because they've got some laurels to fall back on.

That said, Nebraska scares me there. That's his alma mater and his home state and while Tennessee is miles ahead of Nebraska these days when he was a player there when Nebraska was on top. Their fanbase seems convinced that they have to strike now or they'll lose him to us.

I'd be thrilled if we got him. To me, he's the guy we need to go all in for assuming 'name brands' turn us down and even there I'm not sure he's not the best hire even if they all told us yes.

Nebraska may not be as big of a hurdle as I originally thought. Nebraska is in the same position we were 8 years ago, they need a stabilization hire and a facilities upgrade, big time.

They are way behind the other upper tier Big 10 teams in terms of facilities.

The biggest obstacle may come from within the SEC.

Auburn- if they decide to make a move, we'll have a bidding war (which we shouldn't lose, but always do). Gus Bus needs to keep rolling.

Florida- could possibly get rid of McElwain because of the myriad of off-field issues with his players and may be able to reduce his buyout considerably. Not likely, but possible. If we're competing with Florida for a coach inside the state of Florida, we lose.

A&M- Sumlin may have saved his job, and he has a very young team, but an embarrassing loss to LSU or Auburn could warm that seat up again. Don't want to compete with A&M in a coaching search. Cross your fingers that Rumlin stays for 1 more year.

Arkansas- If the Bert buyout article was accurate (I don't know if it is), they could fire Bert for around the same amount of buyout as we can fire Butch. They should not be competition for us (I mean really, it shouldn't be close), but their last 3 hires vs our last 3 hires make me really uncomfortable.

Ark - Won't compete with us on coaches. Plus that buyout is too steep, imo.

UF - Fans are ready but back to back SECE titles keeps him around another year. AD will take into account the credit card thing and injuries. Although Mac is responsible for his team, I don't think he could've foreseen or prevented the credit card BS - that's exactly the shite players think they can get away with and that they don't realize is a big deal until someone informs them of the charges.

TAMU - They won't go after the same group, imo. The rumor there has been Franklin but I think Sumlin is safe again.

Auburn - They may be in the market soon but right now it's hard to say. I see them as a threat in recruiting and hate when we're going after the same recruit but I don't think they're the same threat for a coach.

I don't necessarily believe the Grumors, but I have been able to confirm from two different people that Gruden did in fact look at a house in Vonore (seems a little far from campus imo). What that house is for, I have no idea, but he has looked at a house. The 2nd person I texted with and asked if it was true Gruden looked at said house. The response was "How do you know this?"

That being said, apparently Frost gets it. Check out his Senior Admin Assistant, Megan Taylor:

It's been confirmed that Bert's buyout is ~$5.7M and not the initially reported $15.4M.

We may or may not fire him - and we'd better - but the buyout isn't the roadblock it was thought to be.

I didn't realize the buyout was lower than reported. I still don't think tArk and Tennessee will go after the same coaches tho. Geography kinda means we're looking for guys with connections to different areas although I'm sure either one of us would be thrilled with the kind of big name hire where that doesn't matter so much for recruiting. I hope Ark gets someone good.

Of the fanbases Arky and LSU fans were the two most fun to hang with IRL and I had the most fun with Ark fans. Besides, both UT and tArk have suffered long enough.

Bobo's a good coach but I'm not sure why everyone thinks he's at the top of our list. No way Currie comes back with Bobo this soon.

Lol. He's definitely not the top of our list. If I had my actual choice, I'd give them Dooley.

frick anyone who isn't UT.

Damn man that's cruel as frick. What did Arky do to you?

I like Ark being good in the West. It terrorizes their division's big 3 and we rarely play them or compete with them for recruits. Win-win, imo.
