Like what? Honestly wondering.
Because, AND I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT THIS, NEED A TENNESSEE LAWYER TO CONFIRM, we're a state university, the job has to be posted for a minimum of 14 days before we can announce a hire, unless there are exceptional circumstances, like in 2010. But in that situation, the job was vacant because Kiffin quit, not because we fired him. We may also be required to interview at least 1 minority candidate.
If that's the case, the earliest we could announce the new coach is the day after the Vanderbilt game.
Again, I could be wrong, but that would be a legitimate reason.

FWIW, I don’t know for sure, but I thought I saw that isn’t true.

Also what do y'all think of this SEC country artical saying Gruden has "no interest"
The tone of it was suspect IMO

I thought it was just regurgitating what the FootballScoop article said.

Yep. It's just highlighting, no new info.

Gotya, so what's the thought on the football scoop article?

Also, volfan30 said "Football Scoop lmao" on the Coaching Changes board.
The other candidates in that article don't even make sense when you look at Currie's comments and timeline imo.

Hubbs posted earlier today that Currie has the green light to throw at least $7-8 million+ at a coach. Lol at footballscoop if they think Cutcliffe, Leach, or PJ figgot are even remotely in the ballpark for that number

Just seemed like they are really reaching for clicks with that stuff and yes, way off from what Currie said. That Saban stuff from before 16’ is pretty laughable.
If everything lines up and we get Gruden, I can’t wait to read the retraction article(s) from these fools, and watch/hear all the tv/radio pundits pick their jaws up off the floor.
Hearing JG is/was on campus today...

I'm surprised to see that this hasn't made it here yet..
From VQ around 7 tonight: A little nugget of Gruth?

I don’t post much, but when I do, it’s with 100% certainty and no bullsh*t. The football scoop article couldn’t have been more fake. Those guys don’t have a damn clue as to what they’re talking about. I know Dale Jones through a relative of mine. He told this said relative that the article was BS. He also said that Gruden definitely wants the job, without question, and that he was indeed contacted by him directly and regarding the LB coach position. Dale also made sure to note, and this goes for everyone out there (Gruden believers and non-believers), unless ESPN or any of the major networks goes live on air and says that Gruden is NOT taking the UT job, then all of us should believe NO ONE. In conclusion, Gruden is still very much in play. I am in close connection with Dale and a very big booster here in Nashville. In one of my previous posts, I mentioned the fact that this booster had 0% confidence that Gruden would be our next coach. He is now in the 75% range on that. Also, some news that just came in while typing all of this out: Jon Gruden is/has been on campus today. That’s not smoke. It’s the truth. TIFWIW

My faith waivered just a bit this afternoon. Forgive me for my moment of weakness. I'm now back to full mast.

Well, there are only a few coaches that are anywhere near that market value. If it's not Gruden, and imo it's not Gruden until it is Gruden, here are a few coaches that would be in that price range
Jimbo- don't really want, and I think if he makes a move, it's going to be A&M. But it would be funny to see the LSU fans reaction if Jimbo headed to Knoxville.
Franklin- The melt on tRant would be glorious, but I don't see him leaving Penn State.
Patterson- We'd be overpaying, but that's what it would take. I'd love to have him though, should have been our coach for the last 9 years.
Peterson- Would sell my own mother into slavery for him, he's top of my fantasy hire list. If we're gonna throw $8 Million at anyone, this is the guy it has to be.
Bob Stoops- Is he really retired, or just sick of the Big 12 bending to the will of Texas
Marrone (this one is real, don't ask me why)- coached under Fulmer, but outside of that, I don't understand the connection. Offensive line would be stout as frick tho.
Chip Kelly- If he doesn't go to Florida, it's because they low balled him or he just doesn't want to be on the east coast or doesn't want to coach college football again.
Rex + Bob Ryan (has to be both or I'm out)- My God, the press conferences, the defense, the hair.
Jeff Fischer- DO NOT WANT, NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, and Dabo are making that kind of bread now, we're not getting any of them.
Frost, Campbell, Mullen, Dantonio, Whittingham, Schiano and Norvell are nowhere near that market value. Mullen is the closest, but he's about $2 Million below that range.
Would want Frost, Mullen, Campbell, or possibly Schiano, but not at that price or even close to it. Anywhere north of $4 Million for any of them, except Mullen (because it's gonna take $5.5 to get him to move), and we're overpaying because they're unproven at this level.

Haven't even thought about having the Ryans here, would be awesome. Marrone is interesting and confusing, but I would take it.

Why does everyone continue to think Jimbo is eager to leave F$U? I somewhat understood the LSU connection but to other schools I'm totally lost as to why he'd bail

Hes got almost unlimited job security in the form of a $39 million buyout if fired. It makes no sense for him to leave FSU and the ACC to dive head first into the SEC due to one bad season imo
