Michigan has a really good squad, but I was still surprised to see the rankings play out like that. AP showing some Christmas love after what's happened on the recruiting trail I guess

Most AP writers/voters are area based. For example, a guy like John Adams has a vote in football (don't know if he has one if basketball). The state of Michigan has a far greater number of AP voters than the state Tennessee does and many of the voters (just general regional reporters) have only watched games in their region.

Beyond that, the rest of the country just doesn't think of anyone in the SEC aside from Kentucky as being good at basketball. And tbh, Michigan has consistently fielded some really good teams over the past 15 years whereas we've been up and down as hell. We're not a blue blood in basketball and so it's not surprising that a lot of AP writers haven't watched our games.

The national analysts (writers that work for larger outlets) have given us a lot more love. UM has a great team this year but I think that's how we ended up with more first place votes than Michigan but behind Michigan in the overall rankings.

I didn't realize that. That makes sense though. We just need to keep doing what we're doing and let the season play out, rankings be damned.

If Bone and Alexander keep stepping up the way they have recently we're going to continue to be a match up nightmare for most. I'd drink myself into a coma if we found a way to finish the season with 4 or less conference losses. Tough as hell on the road with what the SEC trots on the floor in terms of "officials" but I think we've got a shot. You making any post season trips when we make some noise in the tournament?

Starting 5 were 30-38 from the field today. Unreal.

Gonna go to either Schultz or Hops to watch it with this tremendous weather.

I've got some Yee-Haw Dunkel in the fridge that needs to be dealt with. Just need the game to start on the radio, and I'll be squared.

Both great options. I love Schultz and have some good memories there. I watched The Dobbnail boot live on their upstairs TV and I thought the place was going to burn down.

Big fan of their Schwartzbier, Pils, & Kolsch.

If Bone can break out of the cold shooting he has been stuck in then I think we will win big

He's been hot the last 3 games and jumped up in the Top 15 of all scorers in the conference at 14 ppg. Somebody had posted that he's averaging something like 19 pts and 6+ assists the last 3 games or something like that. I wish we could get an update on Turner. He's gonna be big down the stretch

Looks like another sell out crowd. I'm getting nostalgic thinking back to all the sell outs under Pearl
