Stein has 4 new starters joining 1 returner and they are pretty good. Thin after that.

Scarcity. There just aren’t that many 300+ athletic guys who are smart enough to understand complex blocking schemes and have stamina

Laugh all you want

In the South and Midwest it was farmers
In the East it was steel workers
In the midwest it was meatpackers, ice workers, and such
In the west it was the miners and ranchers

America is built on immigrants and hard work

Look at Kentucky and basketball. Tobacco interferes with all sports but basketball because of the nature of the crop. Couple that with a singular State university for most of the last Century. From Rupp onward he got a few guys nationally and all the rest were in state kids who just putting on a Kentucky jersey was a common dream. None of those kids ever considered the money or the NBA, it was all heart and pride.

There is a reason we paid out the arse for seating. Left tackles in college and pros get paid the big bucks.

Defensive players have gotten bigger and faster. They are way more athletic and quicker than they used to be.

Again, it’s not just a matter of learning the position in the same way it is for receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks. Offensive linemen have to work together as a unit. As I pointed out earlier, unit cohesion is vital to an offensive line. Without it, no amount of talent can help.

And offensive line cohesion is something that takes time, like seasons, to establish. And, thanks to the transfer portal, it’s almost impossible to build any cohesion on the offensive line now.

You can’t teach cohesion, it has to be developed. And the only way to develop it is guys working together as a unit over time. The transfer portal has made it all but impossible for a compete o-line to work together long enough to gel as a unit.

Im not saying youre wrong. Not even a little bit. Its just odd. Are you saying without continuity they don't know who to block? Do you not have an assignment and if they shift you make the adjustment just like the defense does all the time? If a linebacker blitzes from the left side everyone on the entire line sees that and knows to shift and does it on the fly and they pickup everyone they can because they all know exactly where everyone will go? Thats hard to believe.

Every team has 3+ new guys on the line and probably a new offensive coach
