Who is starting QB? If it is Mateer I may want to order a new tv now.

T Jones is the starter for UF

Lets hope UF can put together a complete game. Not a big fan of changing QB's mid season but stranger things have happened.

Philo (2ints & 0 fmbls) lost composure the last 3 games so it kinda had to be done. Jones didn't play that well (1 int & 2 fmbls) either but looked better to the eye test.

If we get any type of offensive life it will be something to see.

Jason Witten can’t change O scheme middle of year but he can tinker a smidge and motivate players.

Starting Mateer but my guess thats due to road game at Swamp at night. Don’t want to start bench qb in that environment so Mateer has experience and can take the first few series. Then as soon as he fricks up (he will) they can bring in bench qb following series.

Jason has a golden opportunity these last 4 games. Its an audition but they are doing an actual OC search. Then end of year can decide. Jason gets respect from players so I expect to see a good response from all offensive positions.

Still may not win but am curious to see how Jason makes decisions throughout game. That to me is an important aspect. Arbuckle had some good schemes but made bad decisions.

Should be a fun game and I truly have no idea how it will shake out.

Jones looked bad against GA. Got bailed out by refs and a lucky fumble recovery by a teammate etc or he would have had 2 more turnovers in that game. Not sure I have faith he can carry us to a victory himself. I think we likely have to win ugly with our offense not being quite the wreck OKs offense is.

He had about .9 seconds on most of those plays. His O line is atrocious. They should move to Spain and become a bull fighters. They're excellent at avoiding contact, while pass blocking.

Yep our tackles pass blocking is really bad. I guess we will see if Jones at RT was really as bad as Ugorji today or was he on the bench because he has been in the doghouse since camp. I know these games have been even crazier than usual in the SEC this season but hard to see us winning games unless our running game gets going enough to at least be respected. I fully expect to see the less bad offense win today with these 2 teams.

The John Mateer story will be an interesting 30 for 30 on how an almost religious devotion to a clearly incompetent QB brought down an entire coaching staff. I've never seen anything like it.

AI says Venables faith in Arbuckle to fix the offense is the reason.

Brent Venables hired Ben Arbuckle as Oklahoma's offensive coordinator in December 2024, specifically to revitalize the team's offense, and he brought quarterback John Mateer with him from Washington State to implement this vision.

Is Bowen usually the starter?

AI doesn't watch games or tape.

It is clear to everybody that Mateer is problem numero uno.

Yes. We also have 2 Bowens. Our depth is good on D too so not as big a deal.
