Why do teams still use the prevent win defense?

Prevent defense works very well if the team tackles well an has solid DB's.
If a team's DB's aren't great an their pass defense is due to a pass rush, then the prevent can be a negative. if the DB's can cover an force the offense to throw underneath and can also tackle the opponent on those 4-6 yard completions... it works great.
If you go up by 17 in the 4th and you play GOOD prevent, your opponent is only going to have two possessions in the 4th quarter due to them having to use a lot of time to march down the field.

Unless that team has to go 80 yds in one play never ever ever just rush 3

Feels like prevent hurts the defense more than the offense.
You take a good defensive player and put them out of their comfort zone and almost beg them to concede too much.

It doesn't.
Prevent gives up chucks of yardage using very little clock.
The only situation prevent D works is when they have time for one play.
This game is exactly the circumstance you should not use prevent.

Their D kept IND passing in check all game, then when it mattered most, they quit what was working and wend full retardation

Very poorly coached. You commit PI there. That doesn't put time back on the clock. You never allow a big gain.
