John Mateer was the most expensive QB in the transfer portal in 2025

Dubbed the new Johnny Football.
You guys need to stop saying the portal can fix all a program’s problems. Even LSU dodged a bullet when they didn’t get Brendan Sorsby. You have to develop a HS QB or get lucky a transfer QB picks up the new offense.

When asked to expand on the differences between himself and Johnny Manziel, John Mateer famously delivered the line: "I'm going to church in the morning."

College programs are being conned by these overpaid players.

Overpaid is a simplification. These kids are making enormous amounts of money with no performance requirements or any real incentive to get better each week.

The guys getting paid the high nil dollars are interviewing for the NFL every week. Every spot they move up is more guaranteed money for them.

It can.
Nobody is saying it always will.
Helps to not have idiots managing it.

Scout the player, not the hype. Win the game, not the pre season press conference.
