I'm crazy excited to see this kid in red and black, but I feel like every forty time not taken from the NFL combine should be taken wth a grain of salt.

Hell... most 40 times should be taken with a grain of salt anyways, given that it's not the best measure of in-game speed, but at the very least have to make sure you're comparing laser timed runs... Prior to the NFL Combine, usually that's going to consist of either Nike Opening Regionals/Finals, Scout/247 Laser timed camps, *or* if not strictly 40 yard times, any athletes that run track in HS... usually 100M times are most common.

Gurley ran a 10.70 100M I believe... Keith Marshall 10.44 maybe?
Eric Stokes and Ameer Speed (2017 UGA recruiting class) ran a 10.4 (fastest official time in the state last year) and a 10.39 (reportedly mistimed, closer to 10.5) last year... Suffice it to say, if the GAHS track meets are having some mistimed runs, everything is suspect to some degree. I usually just stick with... "damn. he fast."

Agreed. Fast is fast and you can see it on the field. Forty time talk just ends up with goofy situations like a year or two ago when several fans of a certain SEC team told me that there were 8 guys on their roster that ran 4.3. Haha

6-1, 220 and a 4.34/40

I'm sure he runs a 4.34

He's a high school senior that runs a faster 40 time than 90% of the players in the NFL.

Why are you so salty about us picking this kid up? You think it's impossible for a kid to run the 40 in 4.34 out of high school?

Zamir White
2 10.73 May 14 NCHSAA 4A East Region V P
1 10.58 PR May 14 NCHSAA 4A East Region V F
6 10.85 (.4) May 21 NCHSAA 4A State Championships V P
6 10.74 (1.4) May 21 NCHSAA 4A State Championships V F

Those are his 100m track times from last spring. Just for comparison, PR's from some other good backs:

Damien Harris
2 10.98 PR May 16 KHSAA 3A Region 7 Championship V F

Nick Chubb
2 10.69 PR Apr 26 GHSA 4A Sectional A (Regions 5,6,7,8) V F

Najee Harris
3 11.19 PR (1.7) Mar 16 Antioch vs Deer Valley Dual V F

Derrick Henry
4 11.11 PR Apr 15 FHSAA 2A District 3 Championships V P

Dalvin Cook
4 11.18 PR (.4) Apr 17 FHSAA 3A District 16 Championship V F

Obviously, you have to take times with a grain of salt AND track speed does not always equate to field speed, but the kid can run.

ETA: Those were from 2016, sophomore season. Below are the only times from junior season.

2 11.22 Apr 25 SEC Championship Meet V P
1 10.96 SR Apr 25 SEC Championship Meet V F

I'm not salty whatsoever that y'all got him. Georgia is absolutely wrecking shite in recruiting and I'm cheering for y'all. We need another elite team in the SEC desperately. But when I watched his film he just didn't look like the normal number 1 back you see every year. And the 40 thing is just ridiculous. He doesn't run a 4.34. C'mon guys.

Looks like a 4.5 guy to me. We'll see what he looks like really early.

He has 110 carries for 1538 yards and 25 tds. His latest td video, he blew by a safety like the guy wasn't even moving.

The amount of 4.34 guys out of HS compared to the number of guys who actually run that at the combine do not match up the way they should if the former is accurate.

Yeah, 40 times are pointless. Some of the greatest NFL running backs of all time were not burners. Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton. None would light up a clock in a 40 yard dash. I'd even include Barry Sanders, even though I've seen claims he ran a 4.37. He never seemed that fast in the NFL because he was always getting run down. Probably the greatest lateral agility of any RB ever.

Yeah the 2nd greatest rushing season in SEC history is a bust. And a 4th overall draft pick
