Definitely a tough pull out of Louisiana. 247 CB's say this is an LSU, Bama, Ole Miss battle. He attended Dawg Night a few weeks ago and we're getting one of his official visits.
One of our Rivals guys says we're very much in it and apparently a source tells him we're in his top 2, and LSU wasn't the other school.
Would love to bring in a top 100 OT with EJ Price in obvious limbo.

He's way down the board for UA. At one time we thought we were the likely landing spot, but now I'd be surprised if he committed.

Ole miss is probably the other team in the top 2

Is LSU backing off or is there just not as much interest?

He is way overrated.
He had terrible camps at Alabama and LSU this summer. Looked wayyyyyy behind other guys. Dude has size but that's it. Zero technique. It's a joke some sites have this kid as a Top 40-60 type player. ESPN a complete joke at #4 in the country. He should be a high 3-star or so. 247 recently dropped him out of the Top 100.
If you can get a hold of the camp notes of him at Alabama and LSU it would probably surprise you that so many sites think so highly of him. He isn't treated like a priority for either school. He could certainly develop because of his size but he is a big time project coming from that veer offense in a 4-point stance.

Could you share some of those camp notes?

Here's what I dug up from LSU's elite camp:
From Barton Simmons -
"Willie Allen has struggled some."
^ Several quotes on that from people saying "Water is wet" type thing as hearing that many times before.
Barton Simmons went on to say -
"Willie Allen also a guy that needs to go down in the rankings some. Not an ideal setting for a big-bodied OT like that but he's just a long way off to be a Top 30 type of prospect."
This is from Ryan Bartow -
"Good luck finding anyone more impressive looking than Raekwon Davis.
Ross Blacklock was outstanding.
Willie Allen struggled."
This is all from just Day 2 of the LSU Elite Camp and is literally everything they said about Willie Allen, not 1 positive thing. Every person there was saying how much he struggled, and got beat a lot in 1 on 1. He's never had to pass block before really. The bama camp happened a while ago, but I do recall comments from Bama's side being very similar when he was there.
Keep in mind those comments above are from unbiased national guys, not LSU guys.

He's definitely not the number 4 player in the country
He's a four-star player that has good potential but needs a lot of work

Allen doesn't seem like he is very motivated to excel at football. It feels like he is more focused on other aspects of life... I don't look for him to do very well in college football.

Ole Miss is focusing a lot on getting Greg Little (I know, Bama fans, lolz stoopid ole piss, Little has already filled out his dorm paperwork in T-Town), but that's our Plan A and we have a decent shot. Allen is our Plan B and it looks like LSU and Bama have moved off of him, but Auburn is in on him.
He has enough potential that I'm sure LSU and Alabama will welcome him on official visits along with UGA, Ole Miss and Auburn. It will be interesting to see where he lands and how he develops in college.

It will be interesting to see all the people calling him overrated right now sucking on his sack if he ends up at their school too.

I wouldn't turn him down, but I've said before many times either he can boom big or basically never play and bust. It's all up to how he wants to learn technique and really practice it, because he needs A LOT of work. At least you're starting out with a tall big athletic person, which make sit easier. His ranking pretty much comes off his raw athletic ability at his size.

Is honesty?
But carry on. I'm sure you can see the obviously easy comparison this makes for everyone looking at it...

Keep going, if you want to think Franks is only ranked as high as he is because of his size we'll see what the admins have to say.
He impressed everyone recently at camp, including the national guys.
