If I'm looking up info on recruiting I usually go to 247 simply because I like the format of the site the best.
Which site do you use out of Rivals, 247, espn and there is one more major site I can't think of right now.?
Do some of yall use a combo of sites to get info or just use the site with the best ranking for your team?
Also which site do yall think is the most accurate when it comes to individual ratings?
That is all, good day.

Form your own opinions you have 95% of the information Mike Farrell, Barton Simmons or Tom Luginbil does

I look at Rivals and 24/7 because they’ve all scouted different players. If you see a 4* on Rivals that’s a mid 3 on 24/7, often the difference is the kid attended a Rivals camp and not a 24/7 camp so they have more film. It’s not as big a conspiracy as schools who don’t recruit well like to pretend and use as an excuse.

Generally speaking, you can just about dismiss ESPN rankings these days. They've never invested a lot on the recruiting side of things, but they've cut back so far at this point, arguably they shouldn't be part of the 247 composite even.
So at that point, Rivals/247 are both fine sources. Keep in mind that they're going to be right sometimes and wrong sometimes. Agreement between them doesn't change that either.
Composite is generally accepted as "the ranking" when it comes to talking about players on the boards here, though you'll frequently see selective use of whatever a player's highest ranking is if he is committed to or signing with a poster's school.
Accuracy in general requires attention and none of the recruiting business sites spend *that* much time and attention reviewing every player, so just know your best bet is to crowd source and then adjust based on your own evaluations.

I didnt ask ask what sites those three used...i asked what site people here use "to form their own opinions"
Like I said I use 247 normally because the format of the site is preferable to me.

Yeah the whole conspiracy around the recruit ratings is actually pretty interesting to read about but in the end I dont think there is much to to it

Yeah I personally like 247 but have noticed the difference in ratings.

is it the abundance of ads or excessive white space that draws you in?

247. Don't waste my time on rivals or espn.

Better site design. Better staff.

The national 247 guys are way better than the national Rivals guys but the staff on the Georgia Rivals board is way better than the 247 Georgia board.

Totally agree about the site design...it just feels more intuitive. I'll take your word on the staff.
Is composite rankings whatever everyone uses?

247 all the way for me. The reasons are due to how they tried to change things up from the status quo that was Rivals and Scout.
The addition of the crystal ball feauture was flat out awesome when they brought it out. For recruitnicks it was like instant boner.
Also the composite ranking system really added value to their site by combining all the rankings in one spot.
As far as writers, I can't really weigh in on that much. I do know, for the longest time Rivals didn't have a recruiting guy covering the state of Mississippi. That alone is a big negative mark for me. While I know Mississippi doesn't out out a ton of upper 4 or 5 star players, I do feel they put out some real talent that deserves a scout over that area.

Yeah Mississippi has some really good high school football. The alabama Mississippi all star game is always a showcase of massive talent from each state.
The crystal ball is a great addition...and its always fun to see who turns out to be right and wrong. Of course I'm never right but 247 has some guys who are usually spot on.

Rivals hardly has any regional guys for any regions.
I know most here hardly care about the Midwest but rivals doesn’t have a single midwest regional analyst.
How are those kids supposed to get a fair shake?
It’s truly no different from espn rankings at this point

Just plain old 24/7 or composite?

It's the opposite for Bama. There's 1 or 2 BOL staff that wouldn't be missed, but Tim, Hank and Charlie are really good.

I mainly use the composite, though sometimes it's off the mark on a recruit, which is usually due to espn or rivals being way off on the kid.
