What's up with Alabama's 2018 class?

Bama folks - what's the expectation? Currently 46th rated class and only 8 or 9 commits. I know that won't hold, but this seems way behind past Saban classes were at this point in the cycle. Also looks like Bama is struggling with some of their top targets left. Is this accurate? Just looking for the skinny, I no longer follow recruiting enough to know. Maybe this has been discussed already...if so, my apologies and disregard.

NC loss is killing Alabama recruiting. Looks like it really was the beginning of the end. Saban's done. It's over.

High quality. Low numbers. Only 7 commits so far. Will still be a top five class. But only room for 22.

We are only taking about 22 players in this cycle and are having to be more selective than usual. If you look at the average rating of the commits we have, it's a Top 5 class. Once it fills up, I expect it to be a great class - but probably impossible to be number one again from a sheer numbers standpoint. And Ohio State is wrecking shite this cycle.

But it wasn't the case with 7 straight #1 classes?
And FWIW, the 2019 class will be loaded. It is already rated #6. Pointless at this juncture, but so is being overly worried about the ranking for 2018 with seven months to go until NSD.

We actually only have 7 commits, but all 7 of them (including the Punter) are playing in either the Under Armour or Army All-American games.
High quality, low quantity right now but that will change.
I still expect them to sign a Top 3 class when it's all said and done.

Saban has gotten to the point where he'll basically take any Louisiana kid that will come, even lower starred ones
