Welcome to the SEC OU, top 10 class but number 8 in your own conference. The talent pulled in annually by the SEC is insane.

I know their NIL valuations come from sketchy numbers but the thought of a UVA player being worth anywhere near 800k is crazy.

Sketchy numbers is almost being nice, it's 100% completely made up. It's not of any actual value the players are really receiving which is what is truly NIL $ and what matters.

If they calculate someone is "worth" $1M but they have gotten $50k in NIL, then their NIL value is really $50k. Doesnt really matter what their formula says.

Has Travis Hunter really gotten over $3M or close to that? I highly, highly doubt it.

It’s because he’s going to be a walk on.

There are no walk ons next year. 105 scholarships = roster limit. Next year the players will get a monthly Profit Sharing check.

If players didn’t get a formal offer then they do not have a scholarship offer…there were no formal walk on offers given this year as far as I know.

My son had it both ways…a scholarship verbal didn’t manifest into an offer and a PWO turned into a full scholarship.

Sucks if Bama would let a PWO commit think he has a home if they don’t intend to give him one.

both Alabama and Ohio state offered as a PWO. That might change when everything is approved but that’s why he’s not on any list right now.

It got denied by a federal judge.

That was ALL about NIL. Collective monthly payments and one time NIL deals from them to gets to a school are both different than corporations setting up NIL prior to college.

Profit sharing is this issue…and that dissolves walk ons.

I know what it was about.

I also know the 105 scholarship increase is included in the settlement.

The settlement hasn't been approved yet.

Therefore, as it stands now, the 2025-2026 season will still only have 85 scholarship players per school.

ETA: That doesn't mean they are full-rides, either.

quote:

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year if the NCAA settlement is approved, Division 1 FBS teams can give out a maximum of 105 scholarships to athletes. Division 1 FCS programs can still provide a maximum of 63 total scholarships. The 105 FBS football scholarships will become equivalency scholarships, which means coaches can split them into partial rewards across the team, instead of the current 85 full-ride football scholarships.

Nuts. Love to be a fly on the wall when a prospect opens an offer letter that says you get a 1/10th of a full scholarship offer. My guess is that no player in the SEC, on a 105 man team, will be on partial scholarship.

I know Notaro would take a walk on at Bama…I just don’t think the lawyers are going to let that happen with profit sharing.

ETA: The federal judge wants less limitations on the ability for athletes to make money…so pretty much the opposite of limiting profit sharing and scholarships. The NCAA doesn’t want to hogtie every FBS school into 105 full scholarships…but that doesn’t mean those with profit sharing $ won’t require it.

I actually prefer On3s methodology to 247. It focuses more on quality rather than quantity.
