Our rivals site is only good if we want to hear how they have a fight with BBI or movie reviews. No sarcasm

Why post that when the Barners have convinced themselves that somrthing sinister happened?
It could not be that simple could it?

being in Saban's system doesn't exactly = knowing the system. Zo Lawrence was in Saban's system, but he didn't know it.
Zo Lawrence =/= John Fulton
for one, fulton will have been in the system longer than Zo if he makes it to the spring. for two, saban seems to like Fulton from everything "behind the scenes" that i have seen. everytime you saw anything about zo lawrence, it was saban chewing him out, ala jerrel harris. for three, sure being in the system doesnt mean you know it, but it gives you a head start on knowing more than the new guy.
if anything, you would think the JUCO guys will have a harder time learning the system than the RS Soph. of course, poor academics doesnt equal poor football IQ, but its not unlikely to see those two things together. also, its harder for the JUCO guys to switch from what they've been learning to what saban is teaching, especially considering that saban works so closely with the DBs and saban is a perfectionist.

Physically, not at all. But you cannot say for a fact he is or isn't as "knowledgeable" as Zo was.
We're just gonna differ on this one, I see nothing that says Fulton is any better than any JuCo Bama brings. It's the same the other way around, but every non resignee JuCo Saban has gotten has started. That's a fact, not an assumption. So it's safe to say he intended for the likes of Menzie to start and hopes to do the same with Dixon. Aaron Douglas didn't start, but he never made it to fall camp either...

no, but we can say he's not a knucklehead like Zo, therefore Fulton > Zo.
i agree that saban is looking for Dixon to start. but bama is looking to replace two corners not one. so i dont see that signing of the two JUCO guys at corner as a vote of no confidence in Fulton

Fair point. Although I more talking about the assumption that he knows the system because he has been there. It could be true, and it could be false. I know he's been there longer than Zo was, but that's going too far into a general comment.

I never said signing 2 JuCo CBs meant certain doom for Fulton, I said earlier that if he doesn't get a top 3 position a CB that he might be in trouble. Assuming Milliner stays to his Senior year, that would lock up all 3 CBs positions for 2 years, which would put Fulton in a bad situation. I said he or Belue will be the nickle in my prediction, I wasn't specifically favoring one over the other by listing them in a certain order.
I just don't see some big factor, that isn't assumed, that puts Fulton way out front either. It's wide open, I only say Dixon, if he commits, has a good shot at a starting job is because of history. That's an assumption too, it's no lock to happen...

With today's packages you can't have too many quality corners. Just look at LSU. Brooks is a senior who didn't start but I expect he will be in the NFL next year.
Belue was recruited out of HS and is also a dangerous returner. Dixon is expected to start at corner but I expect a battle.

i dont disagree with this. although im not sure Miliner stays. he is has greatly improved from last year and if he continues to get better he could certainly follow the trend being set by our other corners and leave early. i really like the way our secondary shapes up from a depth standpoint if Dixon comes. i think its way too early to write off guys like Sylve and J. Washington. Plus, Geno Smith doesnt look like a guy who is gonna ride the pine

Oh I know it's good to have 4-5 quality CBs, but it's more likely to see 3 CBs on the field more often than 4 or 5.
It's not a death sentence at the 4th or 5th CB, but you'll be incognito. Just look at Phelon Jones...

Milliner staying is being hopeful, he has improved by leaps and bounds, and he wasn't even that bad as a freshman. It depends on how much of the limelight he gets next year.
I think it will be a few years before we see both speedsters on the field as CBs, but Sylve and Washington very much have a future in the secondary. I think Geno Smith needs a year, he's very skinny and has had trouble with WRs bigger than him. I think a year in the S&C program will do him wonders...

yeah with a year in our S&C i think Geno will be outstanding. i wish he was coming in early. speaking of that, who are all the EE guys this year?
Posted on 12/19/11 at 5:18 pm to ALcapone
Yeldon
Anderson
Griffith
Black
Lee
Not 100% sure on all of them though, I just recall them talking about doing so or their names being in some conversations about EE...

thanks bro. im really excited about Dillon Lee. but i think Griffith is the most likely to get PT next year, unless we have some RBs transfer.

Hell, I want to know if Griffith can punt too, I want him on every kicking job if possible.
The others are more dependent on returning talent at their positions, but I can see maybe Black or Yeldon playing on other than special teams. Even with the longjam at RB, I think Yeldon ends up getting some carries...

Saban never has had a great ST. Even at LSU we weren't consistant(unless you count missing numerous PAT's) till miles got to LSU.
Posted on 12/19/11 at 5:37 pm to ALcapone
I would think that with 5-6 LBs in the 2012 class some of them are likely to see at least special teams duty next year, like Depriest this year.
I would also expect some DBs and WRs to contribute in that area or to be "processed." Our kick-off coverage will have to improve for the BCSCG. We need to find some more headhunters besides Vinnie and DePriest. Big hits to start the game and pinning your opponent deep in his territory are huge momentum boosts.
Belue will have an opportunity to return kicks.

Eddie Williams will lead freshman in PT

Not if he stays at WR like some are saying
