The kid's tape is unreal. It sounds as if there is a real question whether or not George will qualify. Anyone know what is up?

Even if he qualified, I question whether he could stay eligible. Kid sounds like he needs a JUCO to catch up and get accustomed to college life.

Based on college is harder than high school, I would guess. No troll. But if he is struggling this hard in high school, is it going to get easier when he has to practice 4 hours a day or so?

If he can barely get eligible for a Presidential admit into Auburn, Bama, or UGA, he quite frankly doesn’t need to be attending until he acclimatizes to a college environment. Otherwise, he will be in a position of taking every remedial course and elective offered the first year and ten the most basic of core course his second year before finally taking the hard stuff in year 3 at which point he will be “encouraged” to submit for the draft because he can’t stay eligible otherwise. Which is fine if we are admitting that the goal here is just to play 3 and hope for the best in the pros. But if his goal is to eventually graduate with something - let alone something meaningful - there’s a much better way of achieving all those goals.

Absolutely true. This dude wants to hit the league ASAP, and he's good enough.
BTW, he's listed at 6'3? He looks every bit of 6'5 unless he's playing the Lilliputians.

There is such an exaggeration of player heights - 6’3” is a very tall receiver.

That's pretty hilarious com im ng from a sooner. Not only is your institution only marginally considered higher learning, but you have a history of admitting some of the most questionable student athletes around.

I know someone who scored an 880 on their SAT, and they were admitted into Oklahoma.

Watched this kid play and he is a special talent. Would be interesting to see a "real, unbiased" test of his academic levels (where the testers were not caught up his football skills). Would imagine that he as fallen victim to "passing him so he can play" tactics used by many schools who are influenced by their need to have a winning team. End of the day, they produce kids who graduate and cant read

It really takes next to nothing to meet NCAA requirements (which is why if a kid is struggling, JUCO may be their best route for multiple reasons). NCAA DI uses a sliding scale, so if a kid has an 880 SAT he only needs a 2.35 or 2.55 (depending on when e took the SAT) to pass muster with the NCAA. From there, the schools just have to be willing to grant presidential admittance to students who would otherwise have no shot in the general applicant pool. This isn’t always a bad thing as some students who have been passed on because of their sport end up finally getting the academic support and attention they need and are able to catch back up (Malcolm Mitchell is a great example of this). The problem occurs when schools don’t really care if they can help a kid academically, only that they keep him eligible long enough or when the player honestly couldn’t give less of a shite about school because it’s how he has been conditioned to view the whole enterprise to that point in life. Coaches and school admins know better and should be passing those cases onto JUCO but we know from watching football for years that they don’t always do that.
