In reference to UT, seems he has been trending away from them for some time and UT likes Emory a lot as well so it looks like a UGA / Clemson battle. As much as he has visited UGA....I like our chances but you never know. Jones named OSU his leader but with Martell maybe UT gets him.

I'd be happy with either Lawrence or Jones.

You got first names for Emory and Jones? I wanted to look them up.

Lawrence = UGA
Jones = tOSU
I've smoked a blunt with Emory. Very high character.

Lawrence will be a Dawg shortly.
Clemson will turn full attention to Jones and make the race very interesting with Ohio State. Imagine he still ends up with the Buckeyes, but we'll give them everything they can handle in that pursuit.

I know having elite 5* talent is never a bad thing but I wonder how our QB situation will shake out with these classes?
16- TFr Eason
17- SOph eason, Fromm redshirts (unless Ramsey and eason both hurt)
18- JR Eason, RFr Fromm, Redshirt Lawrence (is this even an option with how good he is?)
19- Eason leaves to NFL, RSoph Fromm, RFr lawrence
That would be the "normal" progression of things. However, Lawrence probably feels he can beat out fromm (or anyone really, with his talent). In that case, he'd only have 1 year of Eason still starting as a JR then starting in '19 it's gonna be crazy to see the competition between fromm and lawrence.

I would be dumbfounded if any school managed to convince Lawrence to redshirt.

I don't think anyone is pitching that from a recruiting standpoint. The chances are though, that no matter how good he is coming out of HS, it'll be quite difficult to compete with another elite QB who has been on campus for 2 seasons already (particularly if they started both of those seasons). Doesn't mean he won't get a shot, but he's going to have to come in and take someone's job away... as we've all said about Eason going into this season, SEC is a hell of a leap from HS.
ETA: I liken the recruiting pitch here like the pitch to offensive linemen... they all think they're Left Tackle's, and it's because that's where the money is. Demery the other day was quick to note that he's a "Left Tackle", even though we have no idea where the line will shake out once he gets here. You're not pitching a QB "hey, come here and redshirt year 1", but that doesn't mean it's not on the table either.
I think Jeff Sentell has given some good discussion about Lawrence, in that his focus is less on "can I start in year 1" and more on "at the end of 3 years, will I have improved myself as an athlete and my stock as an NFL prospect". With a QB room of Eason, Fromm, and Lawrence in year 1, he'd be hard pressed not to get pushed to his absolute best.
I'm more concerned that Fromm may change his mind if Lawrence commits, but so far his comments haven't trended that direction even knowing that we're pursuing Lawrence hard.

Regardless of whether he goes to UGA or the curveball in Clemson, he's going to have MAJOR competition. Redshirting is a very real possibility at each location, and I think Lawrence is the damn truth.

He'll want a year or two separating him from Eason or Johnson.

Jones will be Tennessee or Clemson I would bet almost anything.

Agreed. We got the same quandary as yal's QB-wise. I'll be shocked if we don't see a transfer at some point.
